I think this is what's going on but can you blame them they are gun shy from all the big plays given up on D and all the int's on O. The more they try to game plan the worse it gets. Every game seems like we are playing from behind. Crowton will be fine next year with JJ and Russel under center.
While I'm almost sure I could not do a better job, that in no way removes my ability to see that the **** ain't working.
I agree. Every game we are coming from behind. The "genius", has really not had that much wizardry like others claim. While we typically have balanced stat sheets at the end of the game, we are always coming from behind - win or lose. When we win, all is forgotten, but when we lose it comes to the forefront. Except VTU and OSU, our wins last year were not that impressive - too many close, come from behind wins for the talent we had. It's catching up to us this year.
We're certainly at a crossroads right now. It was almost "understandable" to get beaten badly by Florida and Georgia. The close loss to Bama was able to be swallowed because, well, they were #1 and had Saban on their sideline. But after getting beaten in every facet of the game by a run of the mill Ole Miss team, it really is cause for concern. There are times this year, I thought Crowton was taking a series off. Several head scratchers tonight as well. However, with our O line blocking, or lack thereof tonight, Im not sure any coordinator in the country could have won that game. So so bad all over the field tonight.
I do have coaching experience and I will say this, the play calling has been suspect this year. The reason LSU doesn't run is because they are getting beat on the line and I can't decide if that is a coaching issue or a talent issue. As far as the defense goes, the coaching is the main culprit from what I see. The coaches are not putting the DBs in the schemes that would make them more successful in defending the pass. Of course this could be a talent issue in the backfield also. The D-line is not playing up to potential and we are not getting any pressure on the QB. Just my observation.
I thought that call was very strange as well. If LSU is considering that four down territory then I can maybe understand a couple of yards on the option to make fourth more managable but then they punted.
What we saw on Jefferson's first drive (TD drive) was pretty much every play he knew. I noticed the rest of the game, those same 5 or 6 passing plays and 3 different options or so is all LSU ran. Ole Miss adapted quickly, and the rest is history.
