1. That was the year LSU won it.
  2. That was 2003 before they played us in the BGCCG.
  3. You're right. OU was 12-1 that year with the loss. Still, it doesn't discount the point of scheduling. OOC scheduling does matter. Especially if you have Div. 2 teams.
  4. Sure it can matter. It's a risk. Weak OOC schedule = likely better record, chance of getting left out. Tough OOC schedule = likely more losses, high reward if you win them. It's all about luck, risk vs. reward. Can you tell me the last team left out of the BCS because of SOS? I really don't know.
  5. I knew that might come up. There is always an exception to rules. Last year saw A LOT of exceptions and that was one of them. I also think it's very arguable to assume that anyway, but there is no doubt that it helped. WVU helped more.

As of 2003, no it does not. It might have an affect on the NY Times Poll which makes up the BCS formula, but SOS carries no weight on the BCS formula, per the BCS folks.

I never ask an Auburn fan a serious question. However, that is a I-AA opponent. Had they scheduled another patsy (like ULL, Delaware, etc.) that was at least Div I-A, then the argument might have been a little different. That year it was going to be SC vs. OU as long as they both finished undefeated. The Voters decided that pretty early.
  6. I getcha. It's good banter. :thumb:
You are correct in that our conference commissioners are the holdouts. I have no idea who the Big10 commish is or if their fans like him/her but I can tell you that within the Pac fanbase, Tom Hansen is enemy #1. He hasn't done jack to improve the lousy officiating, improve bowl tie-ins, improve bowl matchups, support or promote any of the schools in the conference, listen to the fans. The CCG is going to continue to be a point of contention between conferences that have them and those that don't. The idea of the super conference/CCG came out of the SEC and with more money in mind. The Pac10 went to a full round robin when the 12th game was added. I think both have their good and bad points.

Not a great example as the move was last minute. That means other teams have to break their schedules and deals, not always so easy. I still don't believe that other schools are afraid. They want to protect their financial benefits/TV money more than anything.
Always tough to break a long standing matchup.
  7. I disagree.

  8. That's cool if you disagree, may I ask why?

I'd be curious to see how many top 10-25 teams we played at the time played vs. them last year. I could be wrong...

Ranked (off the top of my head):
    Va Tech
    USC
    UF
    UK
    AU
    UT
    Bama
  9. From visiting other boards, I noticed that the vast majority of fans love whatever system THEY use, and all other methods are stupid.

At the time played is almost pointless.
SOS is determined by where teams FINISHED, which is the only fair way to do so (that way all teams get the same boost for like opponents).
  10. Ain't that the truth.

    Thank you.
