I don't know if it was mentioned, but Alabama has 7 more recruits than we. As far as quality, ours is just as good as Bama's. So the rankings are a wash as far as we and Bama are concerned.
The Hat said this afternoon that we got every single in-state prospect we targeted. That's by-God recruiting. If we can consistently do that, while pulling in a handful of 4-5 stars from out of state (Johnson, Aghayere, Shaw, Baker and Hatcher), I think our damn strong coaching staff can be counted on to coach 'em up and keep things rolling. "It's a great time to be a Tiger." -Les Miles, from the 2008 Recruiting Bash
ranking=stars, stars=BS.. Russell, Landry, Bowe, Davis were all 4*. Chevis 3*s. Tyson Jackson was a 2* recruit. Will Arnold, All American guardm was a 3* recruit. Trindon Holliday was a 2* recruit. Darry Beckwith was a 3* recruit. Thats why I trust the judgement of the coaching staff, they see the potential.
That, and I understand Rivals system, which unfortunately doesnt support any theories on here. I apologize in advance.
Well, the whole problem with your position is that USC has not had 5 yrs. in a row with an avg star ranking of over 4.15; in fact, they haven't had 5 years in a row with 4.0 or better. USC’s av. star rankings: (Rivals) ‘02 3.42 ‘03 3.43 ‘04 4.05 ‘05 3.95 ‘06 3.96 ‘07 4.22 ‘08 3.89 USC’s av. star rankings: (Scout) ‘02 3.09 ‘03 3.50 ‘04 4.00 ‘05 4.25 ‘06 4.17 ‘07 4.39 ‘08 3.83 Well, dam, that means USC won their BCS Championship with a class av. star ranking of 3.50 (Scout) or 3.43 (Rivals) '03 class. I didn't give PC enough credit. Now I'm kinda worried about what he's going to do with those 4+ classes from '05, '06, and '07 coming.
