I don't understand the hype anyway. He was at Florida and did just decent, then Donovan took over and the rest is history. He was at Illinois and did little, then Weber took over and the rest is history. He is better than what LSU has currently, probably, but I think LSU could get more bang for its buck. That's just my opinion, though.
dave dickerson is on the list? tulane fans would melt down if that happened!! i like dickerson. i think he is doing a good job at tulane. i have watched him coach and i love his fire and passion. on top of that, he seems like a genuinely nice man. he was hired in 05. when greenie and i were in omaha that year, he was there. we got to have dinner with him. it was a small group of about 6 of us and dickerson. he struck us both as very down to earth, but still competative and ready to take on a challenge. much like miles, dickersons first season coaching in louisiana was the katrina season. and he did it with his team relocated to atm until january. i was also impressed by how he handled that. its hard enough to take over a struggling team. i would say that throwing in being displaced for a few months on top of that tells you what kind of coach youve got.
After reading all of these post I can not help but think of all the red dots I recieved for saying Brady needed to be fired. (remember the red dots?) I even remember SABANFAN calling me stupid for saying Brady did not deserve a raise. Okay, I feel better now:wave::crystal:
He did take Florida to the Final Four which this days doesn't seem to mean that much since Brady took LSU also to the Final Four. BTW, it wasn't Weber that took over at Illinois, it was Bill Self. I agree that LSU should after Anthony Grant, if he was good enough to become the HC at B2B Champ Florida, he certainly is good enough to be the coach at LSU.
got the names mixed up with the Illinois guys. so I stand corrected. But you're all right about Grant. Dude is a big-time coach. I am thinking of potential jobs that will be open just by eye-balling records and standings....The Alabama job is the only one that would be equal or prestigious than LSU I'd think, but I couldn't see them hiring a black coach in any sport.
how old are you? wallace's racist ass died long time ago...most up here love anderson and would take him in a heartbeat if he would come home. walrus the coach at msu would be there now if he had a pulse in an interview.
Grant seems to be at the top of the list for a lot of schools. Not sure we'll be the highest bidder in that war, but he's a good one. I wonder if Tubby Smith would be interested in getting back into the SEC. Good x and o coach, a disciplinarian, but not the best recruiter. Whomever it is, they will have some really good talent to work with next year. Don't think it'll take long to become competitive.
Been bringing up his name since 2002... love the fun and gun but we probably won't be able to get him away from Mizzou, we had our shot. Kellogg is an interesting choice, and while he is a Calipari Jr., I don't know if he is ready to run the show. Baylor and VCU head coaches would be good hires, but they don't jump out at me right now. Tubby Smith would be a bad hire... with all the talent that he got in Kentucky, he managed to do the same sort of job that Brady does here... less with more.
