"Are you guys a fan of your coach? It seems many LSU fans do not like him and want him gone. I spoke with one LSU fan who swears he is gone to Michigan and Saban will be on the LSU sidelines next year. What is the real attitude and opinion of Les Miles?"

This question was posed to me by an Auburn grad, on the board of our Fantasy Football league. I posted it as an example of a question I get a lot around here (Memphis area). I was basically asked the same question by some older, knowledgeable Bama fans, while watching the Bama game at Dave and Buster's in Nashville. Don't focus so much on the Saban part (that's a whole other thread that I don't want to start), but my questions are:

Where does this come from?

Does any one else hear this stuff frequently like I do?

    Thanks!

Whoever the fan was in that quote is a complete moron.

No rational LSU fan would ever utter such garbage.

    My opinion:

I think the majority of LSU fans like Miles and want him to stay. It took Sabans stab in our backs to bring many around. Now we all see him as a good coach, good recruiter and he knows how to surround himself with good assistants. That being said, he's a Michigan grad, played for their team, started his coaching career as an assistant there and many see his heart's tug to go back to Michigan. Almost everyone would see this as a bonehead move (a la Saban to Miami) especially with the LSU program firmly establised for years to come. I think we could get an exceptional replacement if he bolts (not Saban) but I think it would be a big mistake for him if he leaves.

If he leaves, I think the list will be long with great coaching talent looking to come to LSU (much moreso than what happened when we searched for Saban's replacement).

I agree that a substantial majority are happy Miles is our head coach. He has brought such a high level of integrity and class to this program, even topping what Saban brought here. He is a fantastic recruiter and he plays to win the game.

Les has 31 W's in his first 3 years at . Rict is #1 with 32.

We have 3 games left, and he could potentially reach 35 wins in his first 3 years. That would make him #1 in the SEC mark.

    Seriously, Saban who?

The fans I know really like Miles. Initially, everyone was really skeptical but after the 2nd year fans became confident in his recruiting, coaching hires, and his record has proven that.

Of course there have been complaints over play calling, time management, decisions, etc, but this happens everywhere. It even happened with Saban.

Play calling has improved because of Crowton being hired for the Offense, but Miles is not nearly as conservative as Saban was. Saban and Jimbo Fisher would get extremely conservative on offense and you never saw Saban gamble on 4th down. He let his defense win it for him.

Whereas Miles looks at his players and trusts his players, and that confidence that exudes from him builds up the confidence in the players. This is what I love about Miles. It will bite him occassionally but if he was conservative as Saban we wouldn't be where we are at.

After last year, the fans have grown to love him and have confidence in him. The first year was a little sketchy but it was a strange season for us.

I don't want him to leave because of his ability to make good hires, recruit, and his willingness to let the players win the game. The hardest job as a coach is to take over a very successful program and keep winning. Miles has done this greatly. Ask Ron Zook about this.

you're right that no rational fan would say that, but have you heard of that other forum? that's where opposing fans get that from, those guys would have us hung from the highest tree this year.

I get asked that a lot living here in Alabama. The only thing I can say is that the sports radio here likes to stir the pot and when LSU is mentioned all the host read a script that pretty much is like this. "Miles is an idiot. I don't care that he has only lost 5 games in 3 years. He is winning with Our Saviours (Saban) players. Plus we had Guilbeau on an hour earlier and he said that all LSU fans do not like him anyway." That pretty much sums it up here in Bama. You hear that about 7 times a day and people start to believe what they hear.

Say no more. For some reason it is very important for Barners that LSU not have a winning coach. For five years it was "Saban to the NFL", then it was "Les can't coach" and now its "Les is so good he's going to be hired away".

Oh, and by-the-way Les' own fans don't like him and want him gone. This is pure BS propaganda from the Agbarn.
