Yeah but can you call almost every play like we did when Jimbo was here?

IMO, I thinks its pretty obvious that nobody at LSU held him back. He is doing the same plays at FSU and now that we have a new OC our offense is actually opening up.

no, I am just saying if they are holding contain on the backside and you run the same play you have run 4 times from the same formation, maybe you should look for a different play because they are still going to hold contain when they see that motion from Trindon and they are going to do a better job on the front side of the play. Don't get me wrong, I always thought it was the head coach holding Jimbo back. And I am the first to admit I was wrong and love what Crowton is doing. At this point I am just nit picking :hihi:

Easy to say, but Jimbo actually did it.

I agree with Red. Jimbo accomplished great things for us and I dont think we should be quick to dismiss his contribution. The other thing to remember is how instrumental he was in recruiting for us. Just look at all the studs on our roster that Jimbo was the main recruiter for. There is a reason he was/is a highly coveted offensive coordinator and a leading head coaching candidate. I will give those in the business of hiring people like Jimbo a little more credit than us forum posters for knowing how good a coach is.

IMO, JF was the best OC LSU has ever had. Not only could he run the offense, but the dude recruited his arse off and knows how to develop QBs. He looks the part of the young, up and coming, head coach with loads of potential. At the moment, JF just doesn't have the talent he had at LSU. I think you will see him bringing in more and more kids that fit his style of offense. Highly recruited kids are already naming him as the selling point for choosing FSU.

With that said...Crowton also has the look of a great OC that could eventually surpass JF's success here at LSU.. now that he has the talent to work with. The big question is if he can continue to bring in top notch recruits the way that JF could, which I dont see as a problem.

I dont think JF deserves to be bashed b/c of FSUs lack of offensive production. Hell, compared to last year...it has already improved and the talent level is the same.

What a luxury...Sitting back and debating the relative qualities of two great OC's like Fisher and Crowton. Boy, anyone remember if it's ever been this good?

I just want everyone to know that I'm not bashing Fisher. I really do appreciate everything he did for LSU. I just don't think he was as great as we thought he was at the time.

I would hear Jimbo's name come up in Thursday night games and he would come up when a head coaching job would open up. Now that I think about it, I'm just wondering why.

I have to admit though, he can develop a QB and he is a Good recruiter. But calling plays, I think he's on the conservative side, which I don't like and can lose you games.

LSU's offenses underperformed during Fisher's tenure. There was way too much talent to only average in the upper 300 yard mark and low 30s ppg year in and year out. We should have been a mid 400 and upper 30s ppg all those years.

Crowton is an effective OC. Hopefully he stays here for a while. Watch Perrilloux flourish next season with Crowton running the show.

The biggest difference is how effective our running game is with the versatility of the play calling and putting players in positions to succeed. Something Fisher could not wrap his head around.

It is a legitimate question. I really think the answer lies in our record. Everyone's a genious when you win two SEC's and a NC in 3 years.
