Well I am a not a talented enough write to put into words my day yesterday(but in true chick fashion I will try). Meeting all you guys was great! MJ, Salty,Team Katt, Tiga, and 327: Thanks so much for taking us in and treating us like family (you know get us drunk and make fun of us). The tailgates you guys provided were a BLAST!!! Thanks again! As far as the game...well is was wild, hot, loud, and downright scary! Couldn't have asked for a better date though because while 327 may have thought I was nuts he patiently sat next to me and not once rolled his eyes (well at lest that I saw:grin: ) The entire day was one I will never forget! Alot of you guys here were the reason for the perfect day and our boys on the field was the reason for the perfect night!
damn!!! i knew i should've gone out there to catch me a scalper!! i thought they were going to be raping people for tickets though. you got a major deal!! why was he selling it so cheap????
i got offered 500.00 for my pair of east upper 50 yard line tickets from a scalper.I just waived them in his face and told him to go to southern and scalp tickets, get the hell off of our campus.
From the time I arrived on campus at 6:00 in the morning, you knew it was going to be an electric day and things were going to get wild, especially when half of Tiger Forums showed up at the tailgate. Well, maybe not half, but it sure as hell felt like it. I just hope that I all the good folks I met didn't think I was a complete lunatic. Anyway onto the game. My friend who I sit with brought a friend from Philadelphia. He would go onto say that when he got back to Philly, he was going to commence to planning a trip out here for next season. Although, at halftime, I was ready to throw him out of the stadium (jinx alert). We sit in the lower bowl of the south endzone on the east side with all the opposing teams fans. The stands were electric. It was like the tailgate party carried over into the stands. You typically don't see that in the south endzone. The jabbering back and forth with the UF fans was great. And the chills I got in that stadium when the announced that USC score was unreal. I have mixed emotions about them losing, but to be in that stadium at that moment will be something that I will remember until the day I die. Come game's end, I was as emotionally drained as I have ever been watching a game in Tiger Stadium.
I agree, you're absolutely correct. I'm telling you without exageration that my ears were hurting, no stadium has ever been that loud, it was obscene. It got that loud again near the end of the game, I haven't yet found the words to describe it.
Yep, I was considering everything but just could not manage a smile or raise an eyebrow, I simply had nothing left.
I've been fortunate to see many great games in Tiger Stadium over my 30 years of attending games, but last night may have been the best I've ever seen. The number of people on campus during the day was just unreal and you could sense the game was going to be special. Florida played one helluva game and took the crowd out of the game in the first half. They played a nearly flawless first half. Tebow is the real deal. LSU showed a lot of heart and character in the second half. I thought we were going to take the game over after the TD to start the 2nd half, but Florida responds with a great TD drive. I honestly thought at that point it was going to be almost impossible to win. But the defense finally stepped up and got 2 TOs and the offense found a rhythm running the ball. The crowd was as loud as I can ever remember in the 4th quarter. My apologies to Hester for not thinking he should be our #1 TB before the season. You can't measure heart and desire, and he has it. He put this team on his back with those tough runs and second effort. I think Miles has done a good job overall, but I still had a couple of concerns about him entering the season. He answered all of them last night. He played to win and made some gutsy calls. Calls that he would probably be catching heat for this morning if they didn't work out, but I loved the decisions as I was watching them from the stands. My hat is off to the man! The announcement of the SC-Stanford score was one for the ages ... fans and players went wild. Thought it was a bit odd to see our players celebrating an SC loss during the game. Another first for me. The atmosphere after the game was electric. Fans didn't want to leave. Fans hung out in the parking lot long after the game was over. Of course, there was nowhere to go with all that damn traffic!:hihi: Overall, it was one of my greatest experiences. That's what college football is all about. Now, on to Kentucky! P.S. Glad I can still type b/c I surely can't talk this morning.
No doubt. I felt joy, relief, satisfaction, and pitty for a UF team that played like a team was trying to keep their NT hopes alive. Regardless of how it happened, to walk out of that stadium knowing we were the undisputed #1 team in the nation (although Herbie will probably move Cal and Oregon to #1 and #2), was outstanding!!!
I wasn't as pissed off about them stomping on the eye as I was the Florida fans doing the "chomp" and cheering while the alama mata was being played.
I saw scalpers and walked to the people who'd inquired about tickets, after the scalpers left, and they were asking $300.00 and $400.00 PER ticket. Heard one of them say he was a "Street pharmacist". :hihi: Poor stupid.
