The first half is a perfect example of why you don't go into someone else's home stadium and play them when you have nothing to gain by a win. It happens all the time, ranked teams go into these places and get beat by teams they should never lose to. Not to mention how much money we lose by not playing a home game. If it was my choice we would never play Tulane anywhere but Tiger Stadium. If you get upset by a good team in another conference, thats one thing, but lose to Tulane even once every 40 years and its all you hear about till you die. I am still sick of hearing about their win 25 years ago. What are we trying to do, help them in recruiting? It is just stupid!
I couldn't disagree more. Ugly first half. Wonder why we weren't running and why if the O-line is having an off game why the more mobile quarterback isn't in more - and we still come away with a nice MOV. If you can't go into these games away and dominate then what's the point? Great opportunity in an odd (read: home friendly) year to get a little road testing, identify opportunities, and - oh yeah - by the way, come away with the win and a clear focus for the games where from your perspective "you have something to gain by winning."
I grew up in NO. Was a weenie fan as a youngster. LSU was their only rivalry. Went to LSU for college. LSU has multiple rivalries throughout the SEC. Tulane was just a minor in state rivalry. But it's the only rivalry Tulane has so every ounce of adrenaline is put into that game. For LSU it's just a road bump. It does teach the Tigers to make sure their head is in every game.
1) Gave us expierence with an 11:00 game, which we will have another this year 2) Gave us experience in the dome on that playing field, which hopefully we will be again 3) Gave us expierence at an away type atmosphere (despite having multiple LSU fans), we will definately be in that situation again. 4) Knocked the players off the pedastool that they might have been on after all of the talk from everyone. -I see no negatives from this game, except the amount of penalties, which hopefully they will learn from.
