The stat that stood out to me is the 3rd Down Efficencey. We tire out the opponenet's defense by keeping our drives going and keep our defense rested!

Penalties continue to be the only thing standing in the way of greatness vs perfection. Its kind of nit picky to look at those stats and say anything negative but we have one of the worst penalized teams in the country. We've had this problem for a few years and it isn't just with Miles teams although I recall his first year being particularly bad.

Now is where some nimrod always jumps up and screams "Stats are meaningless". Well BS. Three week stats aren't really statistically valid, but they are an indicator.

They indicate to me that LSU can't return punts or kickoffs, we allow too many sacks, and we get WAY too many penalties. Just like last year. But in almost every other category LSU is very, very good.

South Carolina has a bloody excellent pass defense, but in almost every other category they are very, very average.

We can run all day on South Carolina and they can't run on us. If we can hold down the stupid penalties (mostly false starts and late hits) we can beat South Carolina soundly.

Thanks Red for the break down. Now my interpretation of these stats after taking a very long close look at them makes me question the real ability of our team. It is apparent that we are not nearly as good as we would all like to think we are. Our run game is lacking. Our passing game is only avg at best. We aren't able to score near enough points, only capable to score in the 40's in games we should have scored way over 60 pts. Only able to put up 400 something yds in games that we should have easily put up over 500. MF isn't very good, and can only run or complete the underneath stuff, no ability for the long plays. Our defense is allowing way to many yds for cupcake teams. We haven't really played anyone of substance. Not to mention when your 2nd string QB has better stats than your starter, there is a perception problem here, I am sorely disappointed so far. Crowtons offense is inept and vanilla. Bo's defense is really mediocre. And Miles has no level of intensity to take this team anywhere.
Not really, I just wanted to see what it would be like to be one of the complainers. LMAO. This is the best Tiger Team I have witnessed.:crystal: :crystal: :crystal: :geauxtige :lsup: LSU!

damn. i guess i'm too new. the whole time i was reading your post, i was like WTF?? what really got me was "Crowtons offense is inept and vanilla." i was beginning to wonder if i was so Tiger FB obsessed that i was completely delusional. so, yeah. you got me. :redface: :hihi:

i started following LSU football in 1980 (thanks to my grandfather and his old transistor radio). i was in tiger band in 1984. and i agree. this is the best team i've seen. sure we've got some stats quirks, but ain't nobody perfect and we're kicking major butt so far.

More stats.... Since 2001

LSU is 60-5 when scoring more than 20 points, 44-0 with 30 or more points.

Less than 20 points, we are 5-11, USC is 10-22.

So if we score more than 20 points, and USC doesn't.... We should win :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :hihi:

sorry my friend, we WILL run well against LSU. i see ~175 on the ground. i see about the same for the tigers against us. and 3rd week stats are retarded.. teams havent even began to play real games yet. everything is inflated.
