Here me out on this before you bash me. Lets take a trip back to the beginning of August. We were picked by most publications to finish 2 or 3rd in the SEC West. We reeled off 5 straight wins before our poor effort against Florida. We then proceeded to win 6 straight to finish the season and go 11-1. Not bad for a team picked to win about 9 games this season. Now we are all talking about well if we win the SEC championship and Syracuse beats ND we will get enough SOS boost to overtake USC for 2nd in the BCS. If we were a true NC contender we would have played like it the whole season and would not have to worry about a couple of games we are not involved in at the end of the season deciding if we go to the Sugar or not. Take the Florida game for instance. We did not dominate that game. We relaxed and it cost us big time. Look at the 58 LSU NC team. They shut down opponents and held some to 0 points. We had chance to do that ie. the LA Tech game but at the end let our guard down just a little and they scored a touchdown. We did not play dominate football for 60 minutes of each game. We are a great team this season and I feel we are better than USC. I think that this was a special season and I am just saying that if we do not make it to the Sugar Bowl it will not bother me too much. Lets just go out there on Saturday and domminate Georgia for the full 60 minutes. If we win and fall short of the Sugar, lets go to whatever bowl they send us to support the Tigers the best way we know how. Lets bring tens of thousands of fans and show the country how we support LSU football.

Crazy...this is our shot. To have such a magical season and to not be rewarded at the end of the season to have a chance to win the biggest prize would be a catastrophy. The Fiesta or Rose in any other year would be awesome, but this is what we have been waiting our entire life for as an LSU fan. To play for a football National Championship in New Orleans...world's may collide! Perhaps that is why there is a conspiracy to get USC in the Sugar...who needs world's colliding? I'll take my chances.

    GEAUX TIGERS TO THE SUGAR!

I take exception to the "not playing 60 minutes" each time portion of your statement. La. Tech did NOT score against all of our first team. Coach Saban has been wise enough to give his 2nd and 3rd team lots of PT this year. That will do well for us in the future. Our starters on D would've allowed far fewer points than our subs did--and then can you imagine our points allowed per game?

We let down ONE time this year, and it threw us into this BCS debacle.

To question the heart of our 2003 squad is assinine. The 2003 team would've murdered the 1958 team, and you know it.

Of course you are absolutely right. With a new QB (probably) next year, LSU cannot expect to threaten for the NC. Any time you have a chance to play for the national championship, you should want your team to get it, even if this Okie team does appear to be one of the best ever.

However, if USC gets crushed by Oklahoma in the Sugar and LSU finishes 13-1, there could be an upside to that also. All offseason the national media will be arguing whether LSU should have gone to the NC game.

There are plenty of national media types who hate the BCS system and want a playoff system and can be counted on to keep bringing the subject up. When they do, they will have a new darling, LSU, to put forward as proof the BCS does not work.

It could be a lot of very good national publicity for the Tigers for the future.

Deathvalley I see your point, but this is the closest we've come in several decades. I see from your profile that you're about 20 years old. I'm 24. We have many good years of cheering on LSU ahead of us. Now imagine if 30 years from now we still hadn't gotten a NC. Then we might understand what many of these older fans feel. I want to get there as bad as the next guy, but the ones who really deserve it are the ones who have waited over 40 years for it. I hope it happens for them.

I to would love nothing more then an SEC title this weekend then a shot at the National Title.

However regardless of the outcome on Saturday, this has been a magical season. A season to remember.
In short it was awesome no matter what happens from here on out.

    Thats just my opinion.

Hey i'm sorry here. I am not trying to question the heart of this team. I still think at certain times during the season we lost focus alittle. Hey I am entitled to my opinion. I am just trying to say is that if we don't go to the Sugar Bowl it is not the end of the world. I would like it if we did infact go to the Sugar Bowl don't get me wrong on that. I have just seen a few LSU fans post comments lately saying if we don't go to the Sugar they will basically boycott whatever bowl we go to and not watch it.

Yeh I am the one who said I wont watch a single bowl game aside from LSU's if LSU wins the SEC and gets "pushed out" by the fiction writers and media.

The writing is on the wall. I want be upset with our Tigers, I will realize the BCS and the NCAA is a fraud when a team that has played 5 of the Jeff Sagarin rated teams and is 4-1 gets pushed out by a team who has played 2, none above 20, and never even played in a conference title.

WHy watch BCS games if they are tainted and bull crap...
Its like watching wrestling at that point....

However I will not only watch no matter what Bowl Game LSU is in I will be there in person no matter where the location.

They probably did lose focus at times, but all teams do. It is a long season.

I think a lot of media types really think Michigan is the second best team, and I am sure their fans are sick about their two losses, which on paper should not have happened.

Oklahoma needed a successful fake punt to beat Alabama 20-13.

I don't care if we played whoever, or however. But, LSU has played as good or better than USC and that's the bottom line. That means LSU is the second best team in the nation and deserves to play OU.
