I did not think Michigan would drop out of the top 25. Based on this poll I guess they might. I tend to give teams some slack after their first game of the season. I guess Michigan is gonna get buried by the polls later today. http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/current_congrove_rankings.html
This is why I think they ought to not release the polls until mid Oct. Nobody really knows how good or bad a team is until they've played a few games. Should Mich. have been no. 5? of course not! How good or bad was LSU's opening win? We really won't know untll both us and Miss. St. have played a some more. If Miss. State wins 5 or 6 games this year, our win is more imperssive.
I agree. I'm not familiar with this poll, it has some weird rankings like Oklahoma #3. I like looking at some of these because they will change things up a lot based on the previous week which is why you find Oklahoma so high this week. I'm curious to see how the AP and Coaches polls respect Michigan and what happen. Or even how they respect APP State and if they will give them some poll votes.
I agree. It gives everyone a fair chance because it puts them all on even playing field. Big Ten or Pac 10 bias won't have as much effect. This and playoff system would be best.
The guy who runs this site has had his computer rankings system since the early/mid 90's. I want to say it was 93-94 when he started it. It's primarily based on power rankings, and the loss to App. St. is what has hurt the Mich. ranking so much. It's not a bad site...but, tends to be more accurate as the season progresses. Right now, there is very little data about the '07 season to put a lot of weight into it. JMO...
I found an interesting tid-bit of info about these rankings. Sort this list by strength of schedule. Most pac-10 teams are at the top. Kinda makes me scratch my head.
I found this link to a nice fan poll from ESPNU which has LSU ranked #1. I like the way you cast your votes by clicking on each schools logo. They do predetermine who you get to choose from. Still a nice way to web vote. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex
Yes, I'm a web developer and I like it when someone puts something up that is easy on the eyes, easy to use and fun. That fun fan poll accomplishes just that.
