I was thinking Helms was a Sr... Miller is a pretty big question mark similar to Arnold. I have no doubt some of these young OLine will be great, but generally speaking, you hate to have a young OLine guy starting (C. Black would be an obvious exception). I'm not worried about safety, but CB is what worries me. Jai will be good, but he's still got to develop a lot before he's there.
No need to push the panic button yet. Heck, we have a pretty solid program right now and good talent coming in. Some teams that are not expected to win championships do(i.e. 03 Tigers). Lot of variables go into championship runs and a good deal of good ole fashioned luck. The bounce of the ball in your favor( remember UGA and Ole Miss kickers missing FGs in 03 were huge) and get some help from other teams too. Let's enjoy the season ahead of us. :geauxtige :crystal: :crystal: :helmet:
on the original question, my answer is no. never is a long time. we have not played the first game yet, and things (god forbid, knock on wood, etc.) could happen. injuries, hurricanes...... things that knock us out of contention. however, with the staff miles lsu and the way miles recruits, i would think lsu would be back in the mix soon. so, to say is it now or never..... no.
Easily how some people forget about the past decade, and the years prior. Miles job is as safe as it could be. Who knows, he could end up being the greatest coach ever here.
If Miles doesnt win a conference title this year he will face a lot of criticism especially if we lose a couple games and look bad in doing so. Does that mean his job will be on the line? Of course not, thats laughable. While we are all excited about the year ahead I think we need to temper that enthusiasm with a little dose of reality. The fact is we have a new offense including new offensive coordinator as well as new starters in key positions. Lets not all get bent out of shape if we stumble around a little while getting the kinks worked out. Its bound to happen and I hope Tiger fans are understanding. I don't think we are going to see an offensive juggernaut right out of the gate. If that happens great but Im not going to be disappointed if it doesn't.
Under no pressure. He's recruiting well, hiring good assistants, and doesn't make the same mistake twice in games. As long as that keeps happening, championships will come, now or later. So much can happen in a year, bad calls, injuries, etc. Championships take not just great teams, some good fortune goes with it. This is LSU, not bama, most of us aren't delusional. All the talk of the wheels coming off by our rivals (i.e. the gumps). Is wishfull thinking on their part. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!
if now or never means winning the conference. could be unless those 27 three stars in the next class dont pan out. if we dont win the conference this year, im not sure how to believe we will again anytime soon. we will be in contention but wont be viewed the favorite with the other conference teams currently in their down cycle. they wont be for long. surely you jest.
I certainly hope he is. I have a soft spot in my heart for that goofy-hat wearing, plain speaking, fire breathing (expletive) coach
It is now or never for Miles in the eyes of all of our opponents. If he doesn't win the SEC this year, we will hear about it and he will get all the blame. However, if he does win it, he will get no credit. It will be with "Saban's players". In two years it will be because of the momentum created by Saban, or the "players will win in spite of Miles". It won't stop. The guy will never be an impressive public speaker so our opponents will always take shots at his ability. All we have to do is support him and laugh all the way to the trophy case, while our opponents remain bitter over being irrelevant to our season.
