"sports information director Michael Bonnette said Perrilloux still has to meet certain requirements..." Wonder it that might involve stadium stairs ?
LSU reinstates Perrilloux August 2, 2007 By Glenn Guilbeau BATON ROUGE - Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is expected to have his suspension lifted so he can report with more than 100 other players on Friday, Perrilloux's attorney Nathan Fisher said Thursday afternoon. "I presume he will report," Fisher told Gannett Louisiana after speaking with LSU coach Les Miles. "He's in the process of fulfilling his obligations to coach Miles." Fisher has been representing Perrilloux since the sophomore from East St. John High School was questioned by federal authorities last November for his role in an alleged counterfeiting ring in the LaPlace area. LSU coach Les Miles said he would announce his decision on Perrilloux on Friday, which is reporting day for the football team, but he has been leaning to letting Perrilloux back on the team. "The things Mr. Perrilloux has done in the short term have been very positive," Miles said Wednesday at a speaking function. "We were expecting him to be part of the 105," LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said Thursday. "But we won't know for sure until Friday gets here and coach Miles makes his announcement." Perrilloux is one of three quarterbacks on scholarship at LSU along with senior starter Matt Flynn and true freshman Jarrett Lee. Miles is hopeful that Perrilloux will soon be able to enter a pre-trial diversion program through the U.S. Attorney's office in New Orleans, which has been involved in the counterfeiting investigation. The program allows first-time offenders like Perrilloux to have their record cleared through community service work. Perrilloux was on the verge of entering the program last May when he was cited for trying to enter a gambling casino in downtown Baton Rouge with his older brother's driver's license. Perrilloux, 20, could not legally enter the casino with his own identification because he is not 21. Miles, who has had disciplinary issues with Perrilloux for two years, suspended Perrilloux indefinitely after the citation. Perrilloux was not allowed to participate in summer passing drills with other LSU quarterbacks and receivers. Perrilloux did take nine hours of classes over the summer at LSU and received A grades in two sociology courses and a math course, according to Fisher. Perrilloux also did community service work in Baton Rouge on the advice of Miles and Fisher with the hopes of getting into the pre-trial diversion program. "He's making progress," Fisher said. "We're hoping he stays on track." www.guilbeauisadildeaux.com
