Wouldn't this open the door for an All-SEC National Championship Game??

I believe it would. But not only that - it would also put into play a potential rematch of the SEC CG. Think of this scenario:

    1) AU defeats LSU in a regular season conference game (albeit it AT Auburn with CROOKED officials -heck, maybe even another burning dorm building thrown in)
    2) LSU kills AU in SEC CG
    3) Because of high rankings and BCS (or whatever system is in place then) numbers, these two wind up in the "plus 1" game to determine the NC.

All of this could happen under this system (with the possible exception of our loss at Auburn):hihi:

Hell, I thought we played AT Auburn last year. Then again, time flies.....

I was about reply with something really smart - and then I remembered we play at AU in odd numbered years. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't thinking I meant it would happen THIS year. Surely you read that the first potential "plus 1" game would be in 2011, right? BUT, as 2011 is an odd numbered year, I'll assume that's what you meant.
    SO, how's this?

    1) Alabama beats LSU at Alabama - regular season
    2) LSU sends Saban to yet another "high-profile" job with a crushing win in the SEC CG (assuming he hasn't already fled to USC when what's his name leaves for the NFL)
    3) LSU meets the elephants in the NC game

I'd like to see how LSU can play AU or Alabama in the Conference Championship game.

Well first, Bama won't beat LSU :thumb: . And two teams in the same division cannot meet in the SECCG. It is the West & East Division winners that meet in the SECCG. But to go along with your scenario, say LSU goes undefeated and loses a nailbiter in the SECCG to undefeated UGA, UGA would be #1 and LSU would drop maybe to #4 and still in contention for the plus one.

I guess it depends on if the rules committee allows a non-conference champion in the national championship game or two teams from the same conference.

I see what you mean. However, I figure its more likely that my Aunt Nancy will grow a huge set of balls and make some dude named JohnnyRay her B.

But what about the team that ends up being ranked number 5? Isn't that unfair to that team? Oh the travesty it will create! :D

Seriously, definitely a good read and makes me optimistic. It would be a start. Too bad it takes so many years for changes to the system to be implemented.
