Rumor mill getting very rampant that Kerry Murphy is one of the players that grades were changed for. While it was clearly known that he wasn't going to qualify, he all the sudden was a scholar. Will be interesting how deep this goes as Bishop (principal) Propst and Kevin Steel (Asst Alabama) are all being mentioned as being involved pressuring a teacher to change grades. This is Alabama football!
latest article, link: http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/base/sports/118284650789550.xml&coll=2&thispage=1 from page 2: Okay, let me get this straight ...... Hoover hires an "independent" investigator. First thing he does is announce that anonymity will not be preserved during the investigative phase. Wow, that's a sure way to get witnesses to cooperate, huh? Pointer isn't there to expose the truth, he's there to limit the risks ....... By the way, Pointer is a graduate of the University of Alabama.
I'm not sure how you can say that when it is the NCAA that sets the academic standards that recruits must meet in order to be elgible. This in turn leads to pressure on HS teachers to give star athletes higher grades so they qualify. They are often told that giving a problem kid better grades than he is capable of gives him the opportunity to make it in college and maybe make the big bucks in the pros. This is widespread. On a side note, it's interesting to note that in the case of grade changes in Mobile, all the kids names were made public whereas at Hoover they haven't been. Is it just coincidence that the two kids involved in Mobile are Auburn signees whereas Alabama has three question marks at Hoover? Some how I doubt it.
Well depends on which college you attend... Perhaps if its U$C or in Tu$caloo$a they can make quite a living while in college... :thumb:
Without comment on my part, I will just say it was a freudian slip and I have corrected it to say "in the pros.":hihi:
That's a direct quote from Myles Brand. He's said it twice, once with the Tennessee case a few years ago and secondly with...
I don't think he was referring to the academic qualification of HS recruits. Otherwise why do they have the NCAA Clearing House which approves the elgibility of new HS grads/signees?
