 You must not been listening to his first press conference when he was hired or his coaches show the first year . He is much improved (or I've become use to it), but only a homer would suggest he interviews as well as any coach. Then again, that may be acceptable speech in Breaux Bridge.:yelwink2: As for the respect thing, it'll come when he gets that first SEC championship.
We agree here. I was playing devil's advocate a bit. There is definitely not enough sample size to say that he is good - or bad - at coaching in close, tense games. I was saying that a coach's reputation is built on his success or failure in making adjustments. This is why Marty Schott is a laughingstock despite a very strong regular season (and Tony LaRussa should be). They make indefensible moves with no strategy or explanation.
Les looked completely in over his head during the 4th Q of that game. He tried to call a timeout when the Tigers had zero. Don't tell me you didn't bury your face in your hands at that moment. He had to win a lot of people over after that. Which he eventually did (for me).
Well, that was kinda my point and why I took exception to your post. No one should judge Miles now based upon the 1st couple games of his regime. If that were the case, Saban would have been persona non grata long before he left for the Dolphins (referring to UAB, of course).
Les is more. /stereotypical catch phrase You guys need to realize that the athletic media are an overly critical group of has-beens and athletic drop-outs that simply feel that because they have an opinion and a camera it's worth something. I know that this has been expressed here many times before, but things like "Urban Mayer and Nick Saban are the best coaches in college football" really don't mean much to me coming from the mouths of bobbleheads (and it's being expressed with greater frequency every day). It's begun to seep over into the message boards and into daily conversation, because the fact of the matter is that we can't have an unbiased opinion about something we aren't around 24/7. We can say that Rip Murphy is a talented young back with lots of upside because we are around him. When vball says that the new Harvard QB is a stud who has the makings to go to the AFL (very random example), then she's saying that based off of what she's heard from a source she trusts. That we trust the money and attention-mongering whores that are ESPN is the problem. We need more people like CFN and Southern Football. Save Mark May, bobblehead with a brain. I <3 Mark May. Back to topic- I don't care who respects him as long as we do. And I think for the most part we have converted just about everyone here to respect mode.
I actaully like the way/approach CLM has with interviewing. A little more of a straight shooter than a coach that gives us "coach-speak". Whatever he says, he is completely confident with the delivery/style. The Tennessee Half Time IV was a great example of that.... :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
Yep, it was a "you stupid bitch, how could you ask me such a question at a time like this...take your stupid f'ing question and stick it in your ass" moment....which was called for. I liked it.
