I agree 100%. Unfortunatly there will always be homers who refuse to say ANYTHING negative about LSU, even if it is true.

Unless some incoming players step up big time, this year will be his last.
I see fan interest being less than it already is under Brady and if this team starts out slow they may have to give tickets away.

And Voogd. Looks like any more player losses and LSU could lose a scholarship.

The transfers and early departures dont bother me as much as others because they go on at every school with far more regularity these days. I attribute it more to the players than the coach. Young BBALL players mentality has really shifted over recent years.

I've been a Brady defender and still am but this comment about Big Baby really raised my eyebrows when I first read it. Brady wasnt very thankful and basically insulted Big Baby when he made that comment.

Its obvious that Brady is on shaky ground with some fans here but I dont think he is on shaky ground with Skip. If the record and fan support drops to scarily low levels then that may change but it will take a combination of both to get Brady replaced.

I'll keep this brief, just b/c the fire Brady is a little tiring. I guess I'm somewhere between here and gumborue. I've been a Brady supporter, b/c although it is certainly debated, Brady seems like a good solid coach, who brought discipline and winning back to LSU with much of that time being hindered by his predecessor. He hasn't necessarily been likeable, but his results have been better than everyone in the SEC with the possible exception of Tubby and Billy D--so he's been good, not bad or spectacular--good, and it comes down to LSU--do we want to be good or spectacular in basketball.

The players leaving... well, let's be real here. What are the objective facts? How often do players leave college programs? Uh, it happens everywhere. Look at our baseball team and what happened this week! The reality of this day and age it seems is there is no loyalty. Kids don't go to colleges to stay for four years, the "good" kids want to go somewhere they can have ONE stellar season and get drafted. Rolle is no different. Did Brady give him a chance? Yes, I think so. If you have Lazare, Big Baby, Rolle and Johnson, did Brady play them? Yes. Did Rolle come strong? No. Was he hurt? Yes, maybe. But point in fact, Brady let Johnson play, and Chris stepped up. I would have said a year ago that Brady plays it too tight with his rotation, but honestly, he proved me wrong with Chris. Rolle had his chances.

What else is happening here? Rolle sees Anthony Randolph, Q' Thornton, and Chris Johnson all there on the front line. AR is a 5* who's going to play, Q' is a fully mature 230lb JUCO front line player who's going to compete and match up better in the SEC with the other horses. Did Rolle want to compete with these guys? If not, he's probably better off leaving. Did he have his AAU coach whispering in his ears about not getting showcased? Yes. Kids have all kinds of influences that guide them, and sometimes it's not just them.

For LSU, if it results in schollies being lost, that's a problem, and certainly Brady should be examined for this. I'm not saying he's not at least partially responsible for these kids... he recruited them based upon his statements that he would develop them. But, you can never be sure what the player is going to do or be. Let's also not forget that we have limited schollies in '08, and we have several big men on the target list--now we have 3 schollies to give next year. Again, this probably went into Rolle's head, that there could be a Greg Monroe, Terrance Henry, etc. to compete with as a senior.

All in all, I'm of the opinion that losing Rolle is a 3 or 4 on the scale of 10 (10 being bad). I wish him luck and hope he is able to prove himself to someone. Making the 2008 NBA draft? ... that may show you what some of these kids think these days and how realistic they are.

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.

    gumborue,

Just the thought of someone donating money to Mike's habitat in John Brady's name is probably what pushed Mike to go towards the light.

And actually, Big Baby didn't really mention anything about his home life as reasons for leaving. It's well publicized by the media. Hell, he didn't actually have a home life. His mother was homeless and arrested for prostitution. I forgot that your mother was arrested for prostitution as well. Just as well, I rented her and she wasn't worth the $5 and bag of Cheetos I had to give up. Just kidding... And if by chance your mother is dead, well, then I'm really, really kidding. Anyway, it would have made sense if Big Baby had left before last year and he was nice enough to stay and play last year. Without him, our team would have really had a pathetic year as a whole. We were already named the most disappointing team in college basketball by just about everyone.

And it's true, players have changed and do tend to look for the instant fame, etc. Yes, other teams have transfers as well. But I've never seen anything like this. And it doesn't matter that the players might not be great. That's not the point. How can you improve players when you lose them all the time? How can you build something when the foundation disappears every two years?

The better question is why is Brady recruiting players that are so insignificant? I don't think we'll miss Ben Voogd at all, but we missed an opportunity to get someone with good talent when Brady decided to get him. Tack Minor - who really thought that was going to work out? The guy quit his high school team about 30 times (sometimes while the game was going on). I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. Koundjia, that was another waste of a recruit who thought he was the best three point shooter ever. Neltner was a good recruit who could help us, but he's not here. He did well on a very talented Vanderbilt team this year.

And losing Rolle won't kill us, but I don't think it helps anything. He wasn't terrible by any means. Hell, he really played well against Duke in our Final Four run when we needed him. He was capable of contributing, but not for LSU anymore. Brady talked him up going into last season. What happened?

And for all the people that think Brady busts his ass recruiting...get real. Collis Temple Jr. is basically the reason Brady has a Final Four under his belt. Now, I'm not saying Brady didn't coach well that year because I actually thought it was his best year because of his demeanor, plans, etc. But Collis had put together that AAU team with his son, Big Baby, Tyrus and Tasmin. They played together since they were little and all of them wanted to go to the same place. I mean, Big Baby was living with the Temple family. He was going where they went. Brady basically had these guys delivered to him from his own backyard. Tyrus was basically a miracle player and so Brady is really fortunate to have had that year. Hell, I could have took that team deep into the tourney. But just to credit Brady, he did have a hell of a game plan for the Dukies.

Still, we were bad last year and look to be the same or worse this year. Skip looks like he has one last year on his AD contract and so a new AD and a similar year will probably be the end for Brady. We might be the only team in college with a starting four instead of a starting five.

P.S. - Whatever happended to JueMichael Young? Remember when he was like our only recruit that one year? Brady made a real impact with him.
