I agree with you 100%; however, I also have to recognize that people seize whatever opportunities are available to "Survive" and not everyone has the same- especially in rural communities. Some see drugs, others may see a lawn service, while still others may have an opportunity to step into a family business that's more mainstream. Regardless, PETA's objection to LSU having a Tiger, given the accomodations, care, etc. does seem to be a stretch to me. Seems like if they had a problem with Tigers in "Captivity" there are many zoos with less to offer.........they should be barking up their tree- And could very well be- I neither give a chit about PETA nor follow their battles.
I agree completely, I was just showing the earning potential it has. This family had an absolute @$$ load of roosters, and that is all this man did for a living, and lived comfortably. Catholic School was a LOT cheaper then too. From the time I graduated, to when my little sister graduated 5 years later, tuition for 1 year nearly QUADRUPLED!! Now as far as the thugs in my neighborhood, those are small time operations, one was aimed at giving their 17 year old something to do to keep his mind off the drugs. Kinda backfired, because now he uses it as income to support his drug habit. Not sure about the other ones, but looking at their set-up, they seem kinda shady.
Are all yankees as naive as you? You should get out more. Not only do you not understand a much about the south, you apparently don't understand much about Indiana, home of Notre Dame. Cockfighting is a rural thing, not a southern thing. Indiana Cockfighting Ring Raided Iowa and Indiana strengthened their cockfighting penalties this year What's At Stake? Illinois: Make Cockfighting a Felony
Eat this, PETA. The first panda released into the wild after being raised in captivity has just died because it could not survive the wilderness, even though scientists spent years trying to prepare it to survive. By forcing the release of animals raised in captivity, PETA would all but assuring their deaths. Well, I think that was a legitimate question about dog fighting since Joey Porter made it seem like it was a open secret in Miss. And, since Miss is next to Louis, its a legitimate question to ask if dog fighting is as open as it is in Miss. Yes, I must naive because I've never imagined that dog fighting would be such an open secret to so many in a community. Where I'm from, nobody would proudly announce their involvement in such activities. That would be likely proudly announcing you're a pedophille.
PETA is considered a joke by most folks and not taken seriously by many politicians anywhere in the country. If they really wanted to accomplish something meaningful they would focus their time, energy and money on some real problems that wildlife face like diminished habitat. Frankly, they could support LSU’s position as partly the result of what is being done to the dwindling non-captive Tiger population and try to help maintain and possibly increase the wild population. But, as usual, they did not ask, so they continue to sputter along accomplishing nothing but raising money for a living.
No one proudly announced anything in LA. Indiana is in the same boat with every other state trying to get rid of the fighting. Just because Porter opens up his mouth does not mean anything.
