I know it has been discussed before, games at neutral sites. Pros and cons have been offered. Recently ut\ou signed on to keep a game at the Cotton Bowl till 2015. There has been talk about TTU signing on with a game against Oklahoma State also to be played at the Cotton Bowl. So today a new wrinkle began to play out. Jerry Jones was in town today (Lubbock) to meet with some folk about TTU playing a game in the Cowboys' new home, looking at 2009. Thought it funny that Alan White was the one meeting him at the airport rather than Gerald Myers, the AD (he did, later, meet with them). Haven't got a feel for who the opponent might be, my guess would be Arkansas, since they always traveled well to Dallas in the old SWCC days and because of Jones' ties to that school. All I can say is that if Jones is involved he will try to promote the game so that it steals the Cotton Bowl's game thunder. Now is the time to capitalize on your program's prominence and try to get involved.
Honestly, the Cotton Bowl is a dump. I would rather those games be in the new stadium. Plus, LSU only plays the Cotton Bowl every blue moon so it doesn't really affect us either way.
I like tradition. A TTU/Snuffy series might be an interesting one to start. God only knows how fans of both schools would enjoy a respite away from home.:hihi:
C'mon guys and gals, Dallas is only 300 miles from Lubbock, BR is 800. Trying to make it easier for me to tailgate with you once a year.
If LSU is playing a series of neutral games, the site should unequivocally be Houston (largest alumni base outside of LA and traditional recruiting ground for LSU). I'd still like to see LSU revive their series with A&M.
Since I live in a Dallas suburb, I would also absolutely attend an LSU game in Dallas, or rather, Arlington (if Jerry Jones gets his way.) But I wouldn't expect it.
I live in Dallas as well, and I would love to see a game in Dallas, it just doesn't make any sense at all. Unless LSU was going to play a 1-1 game w/ SMU or TCU, I can't see them coming to Dallas. The only neutral site game that somewhat makes sense woul be LSU vs. ARK in Shreveport..... :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
As others have stated, I'd be for this only because I live in Dallas. I'm against neutral site games in general. Half the fun of college football is going to college towns and being on campus. If we were going to play A&M/UT in a series I'd much rather go down to College Station or Austin and tailgate there than in some parking lot in Arlington. Plus we would get them in Baton Rouge every other year and that's what it's really all about.
For the record, LSU is playing a home and home against TCU. One would hope the Dallas game will be in jerry jones' new playtoy over in Arlington.:thumb:
When will that game be held in the metroplex? Found it: http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticle.dbml?&SPSID=27815&SPID=2164&DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=226461 The teams will meet first in Baton Rouge on September 7, 2013, and then LSU will travel to TCU the following year on September 6, 2014.
