1. 3rd, because we were down by three so we would've kicked a FG instead of going for it had it been 4th.
  2. Thank you. Logic certainly escapes me at this time of night.
  3. The Ole Miss TD was on a 4th down..
  4. I think you're being hard on Eli. If he were as obnoxious as you claimed, he wouldn't have the support of his teammates who've come to his defense in the media. Instead, his teammates tend to blame it more on their coach, who they feel misuses Eli's talents in the wrong system. I remember watching those games where Eli seemed to be shackled, but suddenly turned it on once the Giants deviated from their gameplan. How many Giant players have we seen who've come out to complain about Coughlin and how many players have we seen who've come out to complain about Eli?

  5. I know LSU is a state school and so it might be too subtle to understand, but the number of starts is a important tool in evaluating a player. With more starts, it gives you more data and information to evaluate a player. It can help answer the question if the player has been able to perform consistenly, or if he's a flash in the pan. With a smaller, more limited number of starts, it doesn't answer the question if this was for real or if the player was just riding a hot streak. If a QB has been able to perform for 4 years, that's a pretty good indication that he was doing it consistently vs. a QB who only started one season. In the latter case, you don't know if the QB will be able to repeat his performance, or simply had a career year. We see this all the time in sports, where a player will suddenly have a career year but then return to normal the following year (oftentimes, the career year is when the player is playing for a new contract, and once he signs the lucrative contract, his numbers return to normal).

A lot of the BQ bashing on this site is because you guys happened to see only a small sample of BQ's games, against LSU and SC this year, where BQ didn't play particularly well. And, from that, the LSU fans are concluding that BQ must suck from watching only one or two games, and ignoring all the other games he played in.
  6. :hihi: Couldn't resist, huh?

JaMarcus started 2 & half years, and improved drastically each year. So, how is this relevant?

I can't speak for other posters, but many here watch lots of college football, and ND is on TV all the time so we've seen plenty of Quinn besides just those 2 games. Brady had some great games, and obviously has very good stats, but when he went up against good defenses he never performed well.
  7. I agree that more starts equates to better predictability in terms of performance. It can also tell you if that performance has been consistently average and without improvement which is pretty much the case with BQ. Year over year, he has not shown marked improvement so in this case, his 4 years of experience are not looking better than JR's one year.
  8. Come on bitter, we've all recognized and stated since well before the season ended that BQ was a good quarterback and would go high in the draft. I still think he's well above average but he's no Marino either. What big games did he lead his team to victory in during those 4 years??

If he was as good as he's ND fans are running around telling everyone, they wouldn't have to be saying so.......don't see us harping on JR do you? His accomplishments, physical abilities, workouts, spoke for themselves....in fact, if anything, JR was hurt by IMO a lot of scepticism FROM his fanbase.

    2003....5 & 7
    2004....6 & 6
    2005....9 & 3 Two biggest games: USC, tOSU.....lost both
2006....10 & 3 This past year, 3 biggest games: Michigan, USC, LSU...3 loses.

4 years against the military academies doesn't spell chit to me, I'd like to see what his numbers would've been playing in the SEC.
  9. You sound like my uncle who graduated from Notre Dame who says that people who attend state schools are idiots and private schools are the only good ones in the country.

Anyway you do realize that in Russells 3 years he had a better Completion %, 61.8% to 51.7% and if you take out both of their first years you get 64.3% for JR and only 60.7% for BQ. Russell has a better TD to INT ratio of 2.48 to BQ's 2.44, JR's average efficiency rating is 143.59 and BQ's is only 131.11. Quinn threw a TD ever 0.10 completions and Russell threw one every 0.11 (which is actually their closest stat comparison). Add those stat "victories" to JR's better win pct and I don't see how anyone can say BQ is the better quarterback.

  10. Hehe. I get so sick of that excuse from other fans about the academic standards of their student-athletes is different for them because their school is a land grant school.
