Every QB on that list is pretty good. Maybe our team will see the lack of respect and have a chip on it's shoulder and come out and pound people.

Why would anybody expect a first-year starter to be on a top-10 list? LSU has a major question mark at QB this year. We've got two very talented candidates, but they have to walk the walk before they can talk the talk.

The SEC just happens to be loaded with several good QBs in 2007.

Ainge is simply being positioned to be hyped in the 2008 NFL draft as the next Peyton Manning to come out of Tennessee.

Woodson will be good, but any of the better defensive units in the SEC will overshadow his output.

This will be a year where the best defensive units will determine the SEC division champs.

I thought they definitely had the pre-season #1 correct- based on performance.

He doesn't play in the SEC but his numbers are out of the box.

All good comments. Maybe I'm too high on Matt Flynn. He showed his stuff in the Orange Bowl, a big game under pressure and managed the game quite well. Having a good head and good talent can win a championship. I still think he's a top 10 QB.

Question: When was the last time the NFL drafted a QB #1 and the QB was not invited to the Heisman Award Presentation?

I think there are many things that work against LSU on the National Stage. Remember how the national press was so outraged that LSU edged out USC in the BCS voting? Then the AP pollsters purposely voted USC #1 to protest the BCS. Glen Davis is the only athlete to rise above this in recent years. And that was due to his smile, size, personality and Big Baby nickname. The press loved him.

Its hard to be named top ten QB in the NCAA in any list, especially with such little playing time. I hate the cliche but this year it really does "all come down to QB play" for us. It seems like we have the talent to do very well even if we get only solid QB play this year. So if Matt can play solid (doesnt make alot of mistakes but not neccessarily a game changer) he could very well move up the "top QB" board. But for now I can agree with him not being top 10 as he is unproven for a whole season. I just hope he can turn some heads this year, especially with his leadership, which is supposed to be top notch.

Ofcourse regardless I will back Matt and RP up all the way. Ofcourse maybe (as someone already suggested) the whole flying under the radar thing will be motivation for the QB's.

That is very true, we arent really liked by the media. The media likes to go with the flow, so when the flow is USC or Ohio State, they just flow with it and even blow more air into it. LSU 2003 is an example. JaMarcus Russell is a very big example. Remember when the media used to doubt if he will ever make it to the NFL. Now when scouts saw what he can do and when he thoroughly outplayed the now ex-media darling Brady Queer, he became the new media darling. And media publicity is one of the most important things to be invited to the Heisman. The media made Troy Smith look like a Dan Marino in his prime, but we all saw his true stuff against the SEC. Which brings another point about the 2003 Tigers. The flow was that the SEC is an overrated bunch of schools who will get beat when they face the PAC 10 or the Big 11. Only this year has the flow changed when it became obvious that the SEC kicks everyone's a$$.:thumb:

Me too. I was a huge JR supporter, and now that he's gone, I will back anyone the coaches will choose. From what I've seen till now, both are on about the same level, its not like you have JaMarcus Russell talent competing against Matt Flynn talent, so we arent really missing anything.

Talk about setting the bar to unreachable levels for this guy. I think we got spoiled with Russell and now think that Flynn can just step in and be a top ten 10 QB.

In my opinion QB is the number one question mark on this team. Not because I don't think Flynn can play but because I just don't know. I've seen him play well against Miami but also have seen him struggle against Iowa. He was also less than impressive in Spring Game and in some mop up roles.

I just hope that people can accept the fact that we may not be the high power passing team that seems to be expecting. We have a new QB, new OC, new Oline coach and new WR coach. I'm afraid I don't see us having a very efficient passing attack until mid season. But they should come around, there is more than enough potential talent on this team and until they do hopefully our RB's and veteran defense can make enough plays to get us through the early games. The Tigers have traditional been a team that peaks in November anyway. (At least in recent history)
