I ran across an article about what the Raiders may do on Draft Day. I would love to see JR go #1 overall, but he would have to overcome some great odds to shine in Oakland.... Here is one scenario from the San Jose Mercury News..... http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers/ci_5411821 :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
I have my doubts about the predictions from the sports reporting powerhouse from San Jose, regardless of their proximity to Oakland. That being said, there are a host of reasons why the Raiders don't take Russell and instead take Calvin Johnson. I see Garcia as a more likely candidate for Oakland. I suppose Carr is possible because of the negative press on him here in Houston, which could drive his free-agency price down. Regardless, I still see Russell going as the first qb in this draft. Especially ironic since so many on this board said he would not go in the first round, even as late as the day after the Arky game. Russell will be fine. Quinn is the loser in this draft, and that guy will still make millions on his contract, so "losing" is relative.
I agree with you Dude (No, I didn't Dude you...). He may not go first overall, but he wiull be the fist QB chosen. I just want JR to have a chance to succeed. You can tell that we need some football when all we hjave is gossip and rumors to discuss... How many days till August 30th????? :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
I actually read the article this afternoon, and I didnt give much credibility to it. Yes, Oakland were looking for a QB in free agency, but they couldnt get Garcia. Now they'll have to turn to the draft for it, either its Russell or Queer boy. And dont think its not a close one, Quinn's stock is increasing sfter his pro day. Teams like his strength, endurance and he's good during interviews, he's smart and everything. But if they DO take him, its going to be a mistake. Quinn CANT work under such a bad O-line, especially as a rookie. He panics under pressure and will look like a highschool QB throwing in the pros. While if they take Russell, he will throw a lot of picks but he will also make some amazing throws over there. Dont expect Russell to SAVE the Raiders if they dont fix their problems. He's a Rookie and no one should expect a lot of him. I see Calvin Johnson only getting picked by the Raiders if they get rid of Moss, and that hasnt happened yet, so....
Dang, Hurricane, you are right. I completely brain farted and forgot that Garcia got picked up. Wasn't it Tampa maybe? I guess I didn't pay very close attention. Well, Carr still seems like a funny fit to me though. And the poor guy has just run for his life the whole time he was here(Houston). If the Raiders do pick Russell it won't just be for his arm, but probably his most valuable asset, which is keeping his head down field while in the pocket, sidestepping the pocket, or even on the move. Quinn just can't seem to pull this off despite the mighty Weiss for a tutor.
Mighty Weis only taught Mighty Quinn playbook. Mighty Quinn study playbook, make throw against Army, Navy and Air Force. Then Mighty Quinn go make throw against Michigan and LSU, Mighty Quinn no throw good. Mighty Quinn play like Highschool QB, I wonder why? (LACK OF TALENT)
Expect to see more of these type of articles. They almost always come out involving whichever team picks first. They don't want it to be a foregone conclusion they are sold on one player going #1 for any potential trade value for moving down and contract negotiations with agents.
