And that is the problem. A competent coach wouldnt allow that to happen in the first place (atleast as much as it did with Davis). Even if he was completely freelancing that, too, is a sign of terrible coaching/leadership: Players not listening to you. No matter how you look at it, when your star player appropriately nicknamed "big baby" is taking shots on the perimeter something is very wrong.

Whats so wrong with Glen shooting 3's? He's our 3rd best 3-point shooter at 35%. He just doens't seem to shoot at the best times but he's not a bad shooter. He has been known to hit a few clutch 3's, the one against Texas in OT in the Elite Eight comes to mind.

The only positive thing Brady can look forward to is next year which has GOT to be better than this year.

I am not even going to dive in on this one, but I will say 2 things:

    1. Glen Davis is going through more right now than most can comprehend.
    2. John Brady is helping Glen out during his tough time.

    Those are facts my friend.

All these statements aside....last year Brady was able to meld a team to win, and this year he was incapable. I do think that poor play and outside distractions play a big part in victories or losses, but I detest people who don't step up and take responsibility. No where do you see Brady taking this season upon himself. If Davis played outside his parameters, it was up to the coach to reign him in. If the other players stood and watched, who is responsible for allowing this to continue? I can see blaming the players for a few games, perhaps even as many as five, but this nose dive??

I am not even going in to the well known fact that Brady runs players off at a prodigious rate. I hate players that throw each other under the bus, but when a coach does it...

i hereby declare that it is time for all the football fans to stop blaming the poor performance of this basketball team on cjb for allowing glen to play on the perimeter.

i also declare that cjb should keep all this personal stuff out of the press.

but that isnt allowed in this forum remember... human beings aren't supposed to let these things happen. If anyone in their right mind thinks that Brady wanted him to go to the perimeter.. you have a lug nut loose.

No comment on Brady's record this year. It wasn't good.

But, I think this post really points out viewing the world through "anti-Brady" glasses. There were SEVERAL times after games this year, where Brady took personal blame on behalf of him and the coaching staff about needing to do a better job. You're taking one quote out of the context of a whole season. And, also with the "running off" comment--there were also several points this season when players were quoted as backing the coaching staff. I personally don't think that there was a morale issue on this team. This team is pretty tight. As for the Glen playing outside business, again, we won some games early in the season (UConn and A&M came to mind) where Glen hit some 3 point shots, and of course we lost some. I actually think that letting his forward broaden his skills is NOT a bad thing. Remember, many used to accuse Brady of having too regimented an offense, where our NBA bound forwards just sat in the paint. Well, let Glen (who shoots a better 3 point % than our point guard by the way) take some threes--as long as they're smart threes. When to shoot on the court is not just coaching my friends, there's judgment of the player shooting the ball.

This was the case of this year, we lost like 7 out of 10 SEC games by a close margin when last year we won them. Even 4 or 5 going our way means we're in the dance right now. We didn't play well when we needed to and that's the coaching staff's fault and the player's fault. They'll be better next year.

:geauxtige :bball: :champs: LSU CAN BE A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. DO YOUR PART.

I heard it from the man himself on the Lee Feinswog Show, a local TV sports show, before the season started. Brady makes an appearance on this show before the start of every season. Brady discussed how Davis will be doubled and tripled team down low, so he wanted to move him away from the goal and get him some looks from the 12-15 ft range.

Believe what you want, but it was a coaching decision to move Davis to the perimeter this year.
