1. Alright, I am taking a semester off from school and have not really been able to keep up with the baseball team a whole lot. I follow baseball behind basketball and football and mainly can just recognize our players names and thats it. I have always been more of an MLB guy.

With that being said, can someone give me a brief summary of our baseball team.

    - Did Smoke not leave any talent by signing to many people that are pros now?
    - How do yall like Mainieri?
    - Do we have any young talent or talent that will be here for a few years?
    - Where are we compared to where you though we would be right now...also compared to the SEC?

Thanks in advance. Also, many of yall may not notice it but as an out-of-stater, there is know doubt LSU fans have the most knowledgeable and supportive baseball fans. :tigbas::tigbas:

    Not much

    - How do yall like Mainieri?
Great coach, he shows up and coaches on Gameday too, unlike Smoke.

    - Do we have any young talent or talent that will be here for a few years?
Yes, we have some very talented young guys.

    - Where are we compared to where you though we would be right now...also compared to the SEC?
Below average, I thought we would be a little better. It might get ugly come SEC play.

  5. I’m no expert, just an average fan. Smoke’s tenure at LSU will not be remembered fondly. The new coaching staff will spend this season changing the mind set of the holdover payers and it will take them a couple of recruiting classes to build the talent level back up to an SEC contender level. The new staff will also have their work cut out for them in developing a stronger work ethic for fall and spring practices and off season conditioning.

As was stated in another post, this is a young team and it will mature as the season progresses. Fan support may be more important for this team than in previous years. This staff is a true “coaching” staff and will stress fundamentals, unlike the previous staff. By the end of the season, if the players stay committed to the staff’s program, you will see a very fundamentally sound team. However, because of the overall lack of talent, and the strength of the other SEC teams, the Tigers are still going to struggle.
