Brandon LaFell 2nd round Keiland Williams 2nd round Ali Highsmith 4th round (only because his size) Early Doucet 1st round Matt Flynn undrafted Craig Steltz 5th 6th round Jacob Hester 5th 6th round Jonathan Zenon 2nd round Chevis Jackson 2nd round Alley Broussard undrafted Luke Sanders 7th round Darry Beckwith top 10 pick Brett Helms 6th round Ciron Black top 10 pick Will Arnold 2nd round Richard Dickson with Crowton in control and his use of the tight end, i'd day 3rd round or better. Ricky Jean Francois late first early second Tyson Jackson potential top 10 pick. Herman Johnson is the guy with the most to prove and the biggest upside. He could end up anywhere from a first day pick to going undrafted.
Broussard is finished if he doesn't get his act together. The RB position at LSU is a very competitive position. I saw him park in a handicap space Friday on my way to English class. He walked out not limping or anything. He looked perfectly fine.
Zenon & Chevis Jackson seem to be the two that people disagree the most on. Chosn0ne, why do you have them both as second round picks? You really think they are that good?
Chevis is already that good. He is as close to a lock down corner as you can get. Teams saw his abilities and mostly chose to throw in other directions. He is great in run support, and not affraid to step in there and make an open field tackle. I am not certain about his speed and he is not a guy that can overpower a receiver, but 99% of the time he is white on rice. If not for those two questions, I would say Chevis could be a top corner in his draft. Zenon had to deal with teams shying away from Jackson, so he so called was picked on at times. He got beat a few times, but he won out on most of his opportunities. He does have to top end speed and the height that teams look for and is a ball hawk. Another season under Pelini will do him some good and if he progresses on pace, he should be taken somewhere in that 2nd round area.
Chevis & Zenon were the two that I was most unsure about. I was tempted to put Zenon much higher because he had a lot of interceptions this year & had a great Sugar Bowl, but he seemed to get overpowered when we played against physical receivers & got beat a few times this season. I just don't see anyway he could be a 2nd round pick without substantial improvement & he's already a Jr. Chevis has been pretty good, but also got beat a few times. I probably have him too low right now, but I think he'd need to improve a bit to be a 2nd round pick. I'll change my prediction to 3rd round based on what he did last year but with the potential to get into the 2nd round.
Chevis has great size for a corner. He is 6'1'' 185 lbs. He is a blanket corner. If we didnt have so many stars on our defense he would get more media coverage. No one threw near him all year. Also, our DB's play have played in an NFL type scheme for years where they were put on islands. We may remember them getting burned a couple of times but that happens to any CB in our defense. I do not think Zenon will not be drafted that high but did great considering they threw on him all year.
I think Chevis will be a second rounder but he could creep into the first. Teams will also like the fact that he can return punts. His 40 time will be crucial. Zenon has a great frame and great speed but he's not that physical and it seems like his hips are a little slow. He has second round potential and will be facing a somewhat weaker receiving corps this year in the SEC. He's probably a third rounder.
Thats the only thing that may hurt him. He ran in the low to mid 4.4's in High School. He was incredible at track, but he has such long strides it takes him a second to get going. He would be outstanding if they had a 60 yarder.
