Speaking of Auburn, I'd love to know if our AU friends have any information on Tray Blackmon's status. It was my understanding that he wouldn't be eligible this fall? Is that still the case?
From all that I have heard, Chris Leak is a pretty smart guy and I figured he'd score more in the 20 30 range. It is pretty pointless though if it puts Dan Marino and Terry Bradshaw on the same level.
Certainly not an "AU friend" but....word on the airwaves and in the newspapers here make it sound like Blackmon will be back for summer school. Sounds like as long as he shows up Tubby is going to let him play in the fall. If this kid gets his act together he will end up one of the best LB's in the SEC next year. I was impressed with what I saw of him last year. REALLY has a nose for the football and is a brutal tackler.
Yeah, the kid is a beast, and I wish him well. He doesn't realize the opportunity he has and needs to take advantage of it. He is running out of second chances.
I came across this article that puts the test into perspective. The test last 12 minutes and a score of 20 means average intelligence. Only one player is rumored to make a 50, Harvard punter Pat Mclnally. The Wonderlic of it All
I'm still no convenced VY is an NFL quarterback. The defesnse and Henry carried the team. In one game in which they won the defense had twice as many yards as the offense. Pac Man Jones picked off a pass and scored a TD then picked up a fumble and scored. Both TDs were about seventy yards. Giving VY rookie MVP is like giving Grosman All Pro status. If Pac Man Jones is suspended this year Young will be in trouble.
It's trendy to ridicule the Wonderlic as meaningless but the test is actually quite useful. Players who score well really do absorb information better and faster. The VY example proves nothing since he only won ROY on the strength of a handful of improvised plays. In college, he ran one very simple offense over and over. OTOH if you want to throw a big, beefy playbook at a QB and ask him to win by reading defenses and making appropriate adjustments, that Wonderlic looks pretty useful.
