From today’s Starkville paper: Bulldogs' '07 slate remains uncertain According to an Auburn University release, the Tigers will host Mississippi State on September 15th, the date on which the Bulldogs had been tenatively scheduled to host LSU in Starkville. With the Bulldogs now set for a roadtrip to the Plains, it appears more likely that Mississippi State will open the 2007 campaign against LSU. According to MSU officials, both LSU and ESPN, the network that would televise the game nationally, have agreed in principal on having the Bulldogs’ open the season on the networks Thursday night telecast for the second straight year. The SEC offices have also given Mississippi State the opportunity to do so, if the school wishes. The game could still be played on September 1st. A final decision has yet to be made. Mississippi State is tenatively scheduled to open the season on September 1 at Tulane. Week two was to see the Bulldogs travel to Auburn before opening the home portion of the schedule the following week against LSU in a game that appears destined for the season-opening slot.
At the recruiting bash last wednesday the man who handles the scheduling was there. He talked about that game and he showed a 07 schedule and they had the Miss. St game as August 30.
Initially ESPN said they would find us a D-1 opponent to replace them. I'm guessing since they have the chance to basically make their own TV game they will get us a good one. I like this move because LSU football can never start soon enough.
I agree 100% sart the season early adn get rid of a gimmie game.... Sounds like a Win-Win to me! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
I'm not sure I get it. What would the schedule look like if this went down? Who would we play on the 15th?
