I'm with Red. Playing tough teams at home is better than playing them on the road, but it does not automatically result in a W. I remember Flynn in the Cap One bowl in the third quarter, and he didn't do anything. He was great againt the Hurricanes, and he's a Sr., but it will be a new system. Will the O-line block better on the run next year? Keiland looks very good, but what about Alley? Will his second year post surgery see a return to form? I hope so. We need somebody behind Keiland. We've got to replace two starting wide outs. We are no shoe in for the nat. championship. If things fall into place, I'd like to see us contend. We have a handfull of very tough teams to play, and yes, we could drop a couple. It's hard to walk through the SEC undefeated.

:crystal: Wow, I guess I am not used to looking at situations in that manner. No one said we were a shoe in for the national championship. You said, "I'm with Red, tough teams are better at home." Well no chit. I think you can be on EVERYONE who likes LSU football on that one, chief. The best line was that he looked bad in the 3rd qtr. of a game more than two years ago. I never said Flynn was the Heisman frontrunner, I stated he will be fine for the job. Some people act like he has never taken a snap yet. Let's refer back to the previous few months.....Wasn't it the talk for awhile about JR not being the right guy and all that bullchit. And now he is more than likely going to be the 1st pick in the draft. So let's not get down on Flynn until he actually gives a reason to. First, everyone wanted our coaches head, then everyone wanted the QB to be benched and now a lot of LSU fans are talking about Flynn not showing them enough yet and all that. C'mon, relax, and let's see if, from a positive standpoint, that he actually does well. Time will tell.

We need to bring Flynn along slowly to show him he doesnt have to do everything with all the weapons we have. He needs to build some confidence as a starter. He doesnt need to be spectacular. He needs to go back and look at some film on Mauck. He reminds me of him and that is just what we need next year to win it all. Clock management and protecting the football are the ingredients for a Championship with this team since we have the playmakers and the defense already in place.

Thank you, well said. I tried to say that a while ago, that we shouldnt jump on somebody's back early, not until they show all they have got. I say Flynn starts, he had a good (NOT A GREAT) game against Miami, he has a lot of experience in comparison to Perilloux, he's a 5th year senior and he's been really great for LSU by not transferring anywhere else to get playing time in the past years, I say he deserves his shot. Next year, he starts for us, he performs good, he's our guy, he slumps CONSISTENTLY (like 3-4 consecutive bad performances), we call for his head.:hihi: Perilloux will get some playing time in the circus games, and everything's good for LSU.
WRT the NC, we have to be realistic when we're talking about our run for a NC next year. I dont think it's as guaranteed as it may seem to many. We lost some quality guys and we'll have to work hard to replace them.
If Flynn plays as good as his talent, and we get two quality recievers (I guess LaFell here) to play along with Doucet (a sure first rounder IMO), our offense is good for the NC.
Then there is our defense. Our defense is way beyond quality in all positions except safeties. But we have a good and experienced safety in Steltz and we have to get a seriously good one to join him, I guess Chad Jones, if we get him. Then, we can say we may be front runners for the NC.

I don't really see what you're arguing about, the general consensus here is that Flynn will be a good enough QB to make a run at the MNC. Him being a senior is a big plus, having already been through everything. Houtiger is simply stating some points we need to improve on this upcoming year. It really comes down to the Offensive line, if Flynn has time he'll do great. Even if JR were still the QB, a new offensive coordinator does change things around and might require more practice with different sets. Our running game really started clicking at the end of last season so i would like to see some of that rub over into this season. Many things to be excited for, should be yet another great season :geauxtige

I'd substitute "More favorable" for "Easy" cause I interpreted it the same as some others, but yeah, I think the table is set with everything needed for a nice meal.

Psst......don't get mad when you ask for opinions....or even if you don't- sometimes, just sometimes, we do disagree here. :hihi: :thumb:
