I'm surprised that they are focusing on "coonass" when Saban was dropping F-bombs in the audio clip. Isn't Bama still in the bible belt?
Maybe he just doesn't like the word. I can understand that. However most people agree that it isn't a slanderous word. I can't drive down I-10 without seeing at least one Certified Coonass sticker. If it is such a negative word why didn't the company that printed those stickers get any kind of negative pub?
I think the joie de vivre attitude turned the negative conotations into a less-slandourous meaning. The roots are certainly negative.
I've been one of those tired of the Saban topics but this is funny. ESPN's cold Pizza just ripped him a new one and said he should be fired over it. LOL.
Or maybe it's because your grandfather was upper-middle class and most people were low class when the term was originated. At least that's what Wiki says. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coonass
this is awesome. this is such a nonstory and inoffensive to most anyone from here yet is getting the negative publicity nationally i had hoped. even more than I could have hoped for. this can only be good for gump recruiting and their image. can we make a sticky saying Nick Saban hates blacks and cajuns just to instigate it further? however, it does magnify the stupid media and pc sensitive people in the world today.
I knew it. Saban lied. WEEMS NEVER SAID DITCHDIGGER. That is Saban's insult. This is classic slime in telling a joke. In fact, it is very similar to methods used in racist jokes or stories. I'm not part of the PC Police, but do yourself a favor and recognize a JERK when you hear one!
