you dont have to buy it. its simply known amongst a few close to the program. jimbo never ever implented the stack-i formation and never would. les had much more control than jimbo preferred. Saban gave him lots more control til he had a decent lead. hence the over conservative crap. Les gave control to jimbo 2 games i know of and that was the 2 bowl games. he even went on record saying so. ask jeff. he has more credible sources than most here and will be glad to tell you im sure. to what extent the playcalling was split under Les no one knows for sure. But he certainly had a big say in the playcalling which is why jimbo felt it was best to leave. this is what makes the crowton thing even more suprising.
I too have heard that in the Auburn game Jimbo would call pass and Less would overrule with a run. Les has said that he wants the offense to take the shape of the offense used in the bowl game so maybe Crowton will be given a lot of leeway.
The guy reporting this is Joe Schad. One of the most dependable guys in reporting such things. I have heard him often on XM radio. The guy is pretty much money.
well before this turns into a coming back out the closet for les bashers, i think that he said this is all that matters. a more prolific offense will certainly add to the anticipation of what should be a truly fun season with a fantastic defense. And especially my initial thought was it will only enhance recruiting which is the best thing. score another one for les. Saban's ego would never allow him to hire such a qualified assistant when he was here. he needs young robots he can control which helps stroke his napoleonic complex.
that's so we can have 2 tight end sets giving the illusion that we are running the ball, when in fact its a fly pattern for an easy TD. got it?
well of course this was BEFORE we knew we were replacing our OC with the likes of Crowton. Having a TE that can catch a ball doesn't hurt a spread offense. He would be a valuable asset in the middle of the field drawing an LB or safety towards him, freeing up the outside receivers.
