Is Saban the only Coach Alabama has ever hired that previously has won a National Championship? Maybe that is why they sold their soul to Satan, I mean Saban, to win a Nationa Title?
I don't understand the thinking behind this at all? I believe this to be another lie by NS. If he was like Spurrier and NEVER been at the NFL level I could understand but Saban has coached in the NFL before and HAD to KNOW what he was getting himself into. His reasoning could be accurate about missing the college game and coaching kids but lets face it. Once you look people or cameras in the eye and tell lies no one knows what to believe anymore.
I fully supported Saban when he was here and I was very disappointed when he left. He did an unbelievable job developing our team and helping us win a national championsip. I will always be grateful to him for that. However, ALL OTHER ISSUES ASIDE, right now he is the enemy b/c: (1) He is the HC of a team in the SEC and more importantly, the SEC West where only LSU Tigers survive !; (2) He has tried to hire away our coaches; and (3) He is after our recruits. That being said, I wish him the best personally but I hope that we totally destroy Alabama EVERYTIME that we play them.
What do you refer to, Terry? Bama athletes haven't been making the arrest sheets like Tennessee. No discipline problems newsworthy enough to make the Louisiana papers? Dissent on the team? Not attending class? Beating up math nerds? I'm curious what discipline problems can get a coach fired regardless of his record?
Saban Interview: I think it's on the espn.com site but you have to have access to view it. Find it in the College football section if they have posted it.
Exactly right. After working for Darth Hoodie (I can never spell Bell ... Beli ... the *&^%ing homeless looking New England coach), Fredo had to know what coaching in the NFL was like. So to say that he "found out the hard way" what life as an NFL head coach was like is totally inaccurate. And exactly how different is coaching in the NFL than the SEC? Long hours in both. Big pressure in both. Long season in both (Agreed that the NFL season can run from July [start of training camp] to February [Super Bowl] if you're lucky while SEC is August to January.) NFL coaches' immediate offseason probably includes getting ready for April draft. SEC coaches immediate offseason probably includes getting ready for February signing day. NFL has mini camps in the spring. SEC has spring football. I don't really see the difference. Finally, I remember an ESPN interview Fredo gave over the summer. He was "relaxing" at his camp and out on his boat before training camp started. I realize it could all have been just a show, but doesn't that prove he got some time off. After all, I'm expected to show up at work 50 weeks out of the year too.
If Saban don't know now he messed himself up real good when he left LSU, he will as he watches LSU's football program reach heights he can only dream of in Tuscaloosa as the Bama program continues to be mired in mediocrity.
Yes, indeed. I give Saban 4 years. I just haven't decided if he will crap out on them, or he will be fired. Still mulling over that minor detail. I'll get back to you with a final decision.
I knew it was bigger than Ruston, but slightly smaller than Lake Charles. I would imagine Terry found herself a nice place behind a truckstop.
