until urban creyer goes to the nfl? does he have any nfl experience? i'm sorry boys, but florida winning does not make me happy. that on top of jimbo leaving will make it hard to recruit out of florida. so yes, i want urban to go to the nfl.
I don't think Florida's championship will make it significantly tougher to recruit in Florida. We have always done well in that state, and I believe our good fortune will continue.
So, you only want to win because the rest of the conference stinks? I WANT to play against FL, AU, UA, TN, GA, etc when they are very good. I do NOT wish for the SEC to be the PAC-10, Big East, etc.
i'm not aware of any NFL teams that are seeking a spread-offense system for their teams. I doubt you'll ever see Meyer in the NFL.
I agree the statement. Even though I respect myer as a coach, coaches will figure out his offense schemes and adapt to them, but major props for him with a national title in 2 years. :thumb:
Florida is one of the few teams consistently out-recruiting us. Texas, Southern Cal, and Florida are dripping with 5-star recruits every year.
i don't see how you can get that out of what i said. that takes a lot of assumption. it's just that the way i see it going right now, tenn is falling off, georgia did at least this year and they might continue to do so, south carolina will never truly rise up and be a threat so who else is there to challenge florida in the east? kentucky? vandy? florida is getting into a usc like position in the sec east where competition levels are going to be consistently inferior. so if anything, i want more competition. i don't want florida having walk throughs each week until they play us while we have to play auburn, alabama and arkansas every year. i also don't want it to be just us and florida dominating the sec because well... i like gainesville and i don't want to have to start despising it.
I think it will be awhile. Of course his ego could open that door sooner than expected. He has had great success with his system in the conferences he has coached. However, I think the SEC defenses have exploited to a degree because the SEC defenses are fast. The offense didn't put up huge numbers and flat out struggled at times. I think a fast offense can counter the spread option effectively. I don't know if the system would be successful in the NFL. You would have to have a QB that could run, the option pitch would go away, so it would be limited in a few ways or cut down a bit. An NFL team is not going to want their QB running the ball much on called plays and the quickness of NFL teams could thwart the unique defenses. However, if you are the only team running that type of offense that might give you a big advantage. So I think it is possible that this system may find it's way into the NFL and a owner will probably be willing to take a chance on somebody like Meyer. Look at the west coast offense that Bill Walsh brought. Now every team is spreading it out like that.
