Hmmm... and I was thinking Petrino/Vick would be oil and water.

I guess that's why we have forums.

I'm not. He's a little Saban... All lies.

Yeah, but isn't he a coach killer?

Seriously though, he's a great athlete but not sure QB is his position. Cordell Stewart agrees.

Maybe UL with make thing really interesting and add a little insult to injury and make a run at Tuberville.
And January college football news used to be so slow.

No, he doesn't, but that kid from Colorado, Kordell, does. :)

I don't believe Vick could run Patrino's offense. I wonder if the Raiders would trade their first pick for Vick. He could then select JR giving him the type quarterback that could run his system.

Why? Matt Schaub is available to re-sign, is a known quantity for the Falcons, and would free-up a ton of cap room to re-build Atlanta's O-line.

Schaub would be a significantly better choice (as a pure, pocket-passer) in Petrino's system than either Vick or JR (or many other choices for that matter)

I don't like the hiring. College coaches, for the most part, don't make great NFL coaches. Great, hall of fame coaches like Saban, Steve Suppier, Carroll, Mckay all dominated college football but couldn't find similar success in the NFL. I think Jimmy Johnson might be the exception to that rule.

You know, I think somebody like Norm Chow should have been offered the job of HC for Atlanta. He's the best college OC ever, and we know that his skills translate in the NFL, given what we've seen him do with Vince Young at Tennessee. VY never had to do progressions at Texas, and there were concerns about his mechanics. And, now, VY is offensive rookie of the year.

Vick is the franchise, and the Falcons have invested too much in him. I think Chow could have made the whole Vick experiment work, either by finally teaching Vick how to be a proper QB or utilizing Vick's special talents. Most of Vick's OCs didn't know what to do with Vick's talents.
