Re: What an Arrogant SOB...Saban trying to get Jones to decommit

I started to ask him how to pronounce his name but then I quit but I'll finish this time not to "requit".

Re: Tricky Nicky Saban fun audio clip

I listened to Nick Buoniconti's clip. He couldn't have said it better. It is his ego and arrogance that may be the cause of his downfall, not that I wish this on him.

It is a shame that he had tainted his legacy at LSU,

Come on, PT. You are failing to mention his father encouraging him to make the visit, that fact Auburn had only offered him a grayshirt compared to Alabama offering a full ride when we met, and that both his Dad and Mom have been life long Bama fans.

Secondly, you say that Jared had commited to Auburn early this week is wrong. He accepted the grayshirt offer from Auburn in the fall after he spoke with Connelly (former OL coach at Bama) and he had told him that we weren't going to recruit any OLmen for the '07 class.

The W.S. Neal head coach is Blane Hathcock. Coach Hathcock said, and I quote:

"There was a time when Jared thought the only place he'd ever consider was Alabama, but, naturally, that changed when it became clear that they weren't going to recruit him.

    ...and...

"To be honest," Hathcock says, "there is a difference in what Alabama is offering. That is something that Jared looked at and thought that it was worthwhile to consider."

Apples vs Oranges...and that cliche' doesn't really apply here because they are both fruits.

Re: Chadd lets the bammers have it!

Occasionally, we'll see an Alabama kid play in MS. But, in those cases that player hasn't been offered by Bama, Auburn...the list goes on to include schools like Clemson. OR, it's a situation like Chris Nickson or Pat White of W. VA. They'll receive an offer, let's say to play DB, but they played QB in high school (Pat White's case). They want to play QB in Div. 1, but no school will offer that position...so, a school in MS will come along and tell them "if you sign, we'll let you play QB. (FWIW, on Nickson, I know Bama didn't have a spot open for QB because JPW had accepted the grayshirt. We offered, as did Auburn, a spot at DB)

More often than not, when it comes to recruiting with Alabama vs Mississippi (as in states, not schools) you'll see schools plucking kids out of the stateof MS. As example, the last two MS HS players of the year were both signed by Bama. (I don't know who won that award this past HS season, or where he has commited...if he has.)

As mad as bama was about fRAN, it's still not the same. Terry, it's more like how would bama have reacted if Stallings left bama for the Dallas Cowboys, and said he would have only left for the pro's, then came back in two years at LSU? be honest now, how would the bama faithfull reacted?

    Re: What Saban Doesnt Understand!!!

Here's the thing you have to consider. I takes less than 5 minutes to get to the docks...buy fresh fish literally right off the boat.

I do have to admit, that during shrimping season, you'll find me in the boat (bait) practically anytime the tide comes in...heck, I've been out there at 2-3AM knowing I had to be at work at 6 the next morning.

I enjoy the sport, don't get me wrong. But, for you golfers out there, you can't beat playing golf, literally, 11 months out of the year. Heck, the 15th it was over 80 degrees outside...thank God my game wasn't. :hihi:

    Re: Bama Fans On LSU

I've never said I didn't understand why you guys were upset. I saw it compared to dating a girl for a few years, who left you for a guy down the street that you used to beat you up all the time. Just kiddin' ;)

My only thought about this situation isn't why you are upset, it's the reasons some cite as to why you should be upset. Does that make sense?

As example, many say he's following the $$$, but don't acknowledge the fact he's taking a paycut for the next three years.

A lot won't accept that college coaches (see Saban and Spurrier) get into the NFL and realize it just isn't their cup of tea. Very, very few coaches can make the transition, successfully, from one to another...especially when Championships are their goal. It seems a foreign concept to some that working/teaching kids in college the game is more enjoyable than dealing with the mentality of the pro players.

I am amused when I see comments that he won't be successful at Bama, he won't be able to recruit as well as he did at Bama, etc. Hell, I was envious when Saban was at LSU because I knew how good of a coach he was.

Honestly, minus the probation, I see this situation much like what North Carolina did with their basketball program. They had a great coach, he retired. They hired one of their own who couldn't handle the position. He was fired. They set their eyes on a proven, quality head coach, and went out and got him. Granted, Saban isn't a Bama grad like Larry is a NC grad...but I think you can see the comparison.

Re: Chadd lets the bammers have it!

First of all, some of the people who emailed him have reported that he took snippets of their emails and posted whatever supported his point of view. Maybe, maybe not. It doesn't matter to me at all because Chad Scott doesn't matter to me at all. For that matter, ESPN doesn't matter to me at all. Even so, some of the emails he posted are, while a bit more caustic, remarkably similar to what people on message boards all across the south have been saying about Saban and Bama fans for a month. Including some LSU boards. I haven't been on this board much lately because of the insulting tone of quite a few Bama-haters (check this thread). I don't condone what the people emailed to the ESPN dude, but his little commentary screamed for righteous indignation. Sad that the producer of an ESPN program harbors that much hatred and bias that he can insult an entire segment of the population like that. Even sadder is that he lets his personal hatred of Bama and his insecurities from being an auburn alum color the theme of his show (I've heard it's radio but I'm not a fan of ESPN so I don't really know.)

My mother, God rest her soul, was a Bama fan all her life but she wasn't the trailer trash the ESPN dude makes all Bama fans appear to be. All Bama fans are not the low-lifes that a lot of our SEC so-called brethren make us out to be.
