Some of you fans have a hard time enjoying anything these days... "oh, well Miles might not be that good because look at other coaches that did well at first and then failed later". "we cant promote from within because DiNardo did that & we sucked". The circumstances are completely different and the outcomes will be as well. I would like to see Monken promoted to OC. It appears Miles gets along with him & they share the same offensive philosophy, which actually includes deep threats, a big vertical attack & scoring points. Major Applewhite would be a big get for passing coordinator/QB coach, but not sure if he would want to settle for that instead of being an OC.
There's nothing we can do to stop Pelini from becoming a head coach. That is what he wants and eventually he will be one. Jimbo's offensive philosophy is very different than Miles' and he has been reduced to a QB coach. I'm betting there is a mutual agreement that it would be best for Jimbo to move on, the question is to where... Bama or Florida St. It looked like Florida St was all but a done deal until Bama came in with a big offer.
Id be far more worried about losing Pelini. He makes great adjustments. He is better at adjustments than Muschamp. I do prefer Muschamps blitz schemes though. I hate to lose Pelini, the guy knows the D. Look at the adjustments he made against ND. LSU was flat footed in the first half, after the first two ND series. Then in the second half only allow 30 yards. If he leaves I hope we go after Muschamp again. I doubt he leaves Auburn though. If not how about the Georgia Tech DC. They have a similar, attacking style D? I know its a matter of time before he leaves, I just hope it isnt now. I really dont think Miles overrules Fisher too much. Under the Fisher tenure LSU has overdone the WR screen and quick slants. Its basically the same calling now as when we won the title. So I dont buy Miles overruling Fisher often. Im not a big fan of Fisher because of the aforementioned reasons. I just hope he doesnt leave for Bama.
I don't think he did that good of a job at AU this year. He made a few bad calls. He's still unproven, IMO because it isn't clear how much of our defense was Sabans and how much was his. Plus, Pelini's D has been better both years than all but one of Saban/Muschamp's. If Pelini leaves, which I don't expect this year, we can do better than Muschamp. Fisher doesn't even carry around the offensive playcall sheet at practice anymore - Miles does. Have you ever seen our offense look like it did against ND with all those long bombs and big scoring drives? No, not before Miles got here. That isn't Jimbo's philosophy, it is Miles. Now maybe Jimbo is making those calls, but he is making them because Miles tells him to not because he wants to. I hope he doesn't leave for Bama because of recruiting, other than that I don't think it is that big of a deal.
I have to admit when I think about it, you are right about Muschamp. Auburn has great athletes and they were very inconsistent this year. I really do think the Ga Tech coordinator would be a good choice if Pelini were to leave. I agree with what you said about Fishers recruiting. We would miss that more than anything.
The Auburn boards are reporting that Saban demanded 1.2 million to spend on his coordinators and they may be offering Jimbo 650-850K of it. FSU is apparently standing firm at 450K.
I read somewhere that he made 500k here, so if that's true, it doesn't make sense for him to leave for FSU.
I had heard it was 400 thou here at LSU. Who knows, I just hope he doesnt go to Bama. Other than that it doesnt bother me if Fisher leaves.
