The difference though here is that we actually have a FOOTBALL team that is going to show up at a bowl and compete for a win, not just show up, say We are Notre Dame, take our coach to all the good buffets and collect a check. Notre Dame in the BCS is just like a crack whore on welfare. Just their to get a check.

Lets leave CW's family out of this argument. What you should have said was:

Notre Dame in the BCS is just like Nick Saban at Alabama. Just their to get a check

Robidoux87 You call that a double?

ND won it all in 1988 and should have won it in 1993, when they had the head-to-head over Florida St.

I think the Irish still have the resources to be a contender sometime soon, but you're right about everything else: they just have to show one sign of life and everybody goes insane.

Thanks for the correction. I had erased any ND success from my memory.

You're splitting hairs here...'93 was 14 years ago.

Easy. It's "acceptable" because the media and the bowl committees allow encourage that behavior.

IMO, the difference is that LSU was a far superior team - all season long - than Notre Dame ...... and the Sugar results conclusively proved that point.

It wasn't a question of whether LSU belonged there, rather a question of would their fans travel.......No one ever questioned the team's talent and many experts were, in fact, saying we could be the most talented team in the Nation...Capeeche!

Nobody was trying to "influence" any selection process by promising to buy tickets. That's just the number of fans that genuinely wanted to attend the game. There's a difference. We, LSU fans, don't buy tickets to influence anyone.

By the way, for a team that you claim travels well, I sure didn't see an alarming amount of Irish fans at the game.

I almost feel cheated that we had to play Notre Dame.

Because Tiger fans, and college football fans in general, would prefer to watch LSU play a football GAME in California over a PRACTICE in New Orleans. :thumb:
