I just booked a room in the Cotton Exchange hotel this morning using hotels.com. It's in the central business district one block from Canal and about 6 blocks from the Superdome. Check it out.

I like the homewood suites. I think it is on Poydras, but I can't remember.

If anyone else is looking, we just stayed at "ExtendedStay" by the airport. I think $89.00 with a stove and refrigerator. Very nice and a little on the outskirts so may be more chance for a vacacy.

I'm at the Baronne Plaza Tues and Wed night. It's inexpensive, never been there but the photos on their wedsite look OK.

Hope they were after Katrina. My father and I went to Toledo one time and I booked at a place where the boat dock was lighted, had individual slips for boats of guests, and was beautiful. When we got there there was no electricity at dock, it had been tossed by storms and we could barely get in.......the pictures were old.

Another instance, I always book the rooms for our softball league's All Star teams when we travel during the summer for Regionals, and Nationals. One year we arrived at the Hotel in Harlingen Tx. and the hotel was nothing like the internet pic and a/c units didn't work much at all in some of the rooms.

Took some heat from the ones who never offer to help but we paid for them to move to a Hilton if they chose and 4 families did but 7 others and mine stayed and ended up taken care of. The manager was Mexican and came meet us one night (We always cook outside for the families cause it save a lot of money and is fun) and he played a guitar and sang a song for us that he'd written for his daughter.....song was very touching to our parents and one of my best memories.

Anyway, I tend to digress and I'm not trying to scare you but be careful with internet pics for businesses.

    Lsu Fan,

They just changed owners of the hotel. It was a Hampton Inn and is inside of the Place St. Charles office building. You are within walking distance of the dome and the French Quarter.

I hung out at Cotton Exchange for a little while last night. I had a room at the LaQuinta. Both are fairly nice & close to Bourbon street, but a pretty good walk to the Super Dome.
