I figure we need another "Will JR go pro" thread...

The announcers in the Browns/Texans game are talking about the Browns #1 overall pick, and said they've heard they'll take Bradie Quinn. However, they aren't ruling out Russell if he comes out.

Like has been stated on here a million times, JR will rocket up the draft boards when the scouts see his skills and leadership qualities.

Oakland has the #1 pick with Detroit right behind them. If Oakland doesn't take Quinn, Detriot will.

Yes, my assumption is that the Raiders will waste their pick on an average to above average cornerback to-be-named later.

The secondary assumption is that the Raiders would have no ability to pass on a rocket-armed, tough QB.

If Al Davis is still breathing, he will want JR... he is all about the strong-armed, deep ball QB...

You could be right. He liked Lamonica, Snake and Plunkett. And he NEEDS an upgrade at QB, Brooks didn't cut it in NO, and he ain't cuttin it in Oakland. That leads me to believe Davis is not thinking straight any more. He seems to be trying one hair brained idea after another and heading in the wrong direction. I don't wish that on JR. Maybe a good reason to stay in school, and hope Oak. and Detroit don't have the worst record next year. In Oakland's case, when most teams go down the tubes they clean house and try to bring in professionals. Davis won't fire himself, so more of the same. No decent coach wants his job, with no input or control and Davis as the personnel guy, so they have become a perpetual cesspool, and I hate to say it because I liked them when they had Terry Robiske (LSU running back for you young un's).
