At the risk of being verbally abused, I have to say that Saban DID take LSU to the National Championship game. Remember that? I mean, I'm not happy that he'll be coaching against us now, but it's a free country with free enterprise. I hope we beat him every time we play, but I can't hate him because he took a better paying job.

My biggest concern is that this will distract the media away from our thorough trouncing of the Irish.

    :crystal: LSU!

Everybody talks abotu how Jimbo didn't get along with Les. Well, Jimbo didin't get along with Saban either. Jimbo wants to be a head coach. I can't see him wantng to get back under a control freak like Nick, that ain't a sideways move, it's a step backward.

Saban was rough on assistant coaches. He turned over 2 or 3 a year and the word is out. You ahve to have a tough shell and swallow you own abitions when you are around Nick. No coach is allowed to speak to the press under Nick. It's his way or the highway.

Jimbo can do better at Free Shoes University.

no doubt--she was probably tired of him running with the Miami hotties to feed his ever expanding ego--you need some stoking after getting spanked in the NFL for 2 years--once a whore always a whore................:geauxtige

I'm not angry with him wanting out of Miami and taking the Bama job. In fact, I never thought his coaching style would work well in the NFL and he'd come back to the college game eventually.

I'm glad he came to LSU, but I just can't respect anyone who conducts himself in the manner that he has done. He's not professional, lacks class and is an outright liar. Not exactly the qualities I respect in a man.

He's a liar, perhaps, but not a traitor. He didn't leave LSU to go to Bama. Nick is not an LSU guy, just like he wasn't a Michigan State guy or a Miami guy. He is a professional coach and a journeyman with happy feet.

Now, a school with no loyalty to any of its football coaches has hired a guy with no loyalty to any school. With the money they are paying him they expect instant results. It took him 4 years to take LSU to the BCS game.

Nick has four years to repeat the feat or he's history at Bama. They can get plenty of good coaches for half Nicks salary to make them "merely" very good.

I have all the respect for what Saban did for LSU. THe title and in general being a major part in bringing LSU back to national prominence. I just dislike how he is always happy to be where he is. He isnt leaving. Then suddenly he bolts for another job. I have no respect for the so called man Saban is. He lacks commitment, honor, class, and integrity. That is why I hate Saban.
Grant it had he burned another school, Id be far less adament in how I feel towards him. Id probably be ambivilant.

Nick Saban "Hell of a Coach, Lacking in Honesty"!!!

As a Tiger Fan that is full of praise for Nick Saban and his accomplishments in life, I for one was always an admirer. His work ethic, determination, and focus have made him a good football coach. As far as a man that I would look up to, no longer!! He has abused so many people that have helped him along the way.

    Michigan State- "Great Job"

LSU-- "I will never leave, my family is very important to me and they have never been happier than here."

Miami Dolphins--"I am not interested in the Alabama job, and never will be, as far as I am concerned they did the wrong thing by firing their coach"

You think about the lying and undermining of people, Good People, that have help put Nick Saban in positions that have helped him and his family greatly.
He lies through his teeth. He lies to his friends, or so people think their his friends!!! Nick Saban has shown everyone in the country what kind of person he is. I do not wish bad things on anyone, and would not wish anything bad to Nick Saban. It is just another story of the trust and respect people have for someone in this world, and to see how that person just uses his power over people to get what he wants. I know now that we are better off as a university, and as a football team, not to be associated with anyone that would sell you out in a heart beat.
To all the Alabama fans: I know you have a great coach, and I hope he makes it to your school, before he changes his mind and once again uses your university as pawns, as he has used eveyone else that has got him where he is!!!

The ESPN article has a nice sidebar with Saban's quotes over the past month or so about the Bama job. It includes this gem from Nov 27:

"When I was in college it was always about coming to the pros. This is the challenge I wanted. I had a good college job. Why would I have left that if I was going to be interested in other college jobs?

"I took this as a challenge. We certainly haven't seen this through and gotten where we want to go and finished the job here, so why would I be interested in something else?"
