    Re: Saban Fallout...Here we Go

Money talks... Look for Jimbo to make about 550 to 600,000 at UAT and the UAB faction.. (all 10 of them) to call for succession from the system.. i learned also that UAB hospital contributes 40 million to the University system annually.. just enough to cover Sabans contract over 10 years...

Unfortunately i have been right all along with my sources on Saban and it looks like Jimbo is bama bound.

It works both ways. We know Fisher's offense inside out. We'll have a new OC, so they may not be familiar with ours.

But the real kicker is this ... we have better athletes right now and it'll take Saban a couple of recruiting years to come close to catching us, if he can at all.

I would assume that Les will be able to hire a good OC. He did a nice job in getting Pellini to come here as DC, and I thought that we'd really miss Muschamp.

But again, I don't see how Jimbo gains anything from moving to Bama as OC (my same point with the FSU job). If JR comes back next year, we're in the running for the NC, which would be a great springboard for a really good HC position for him. Much better than with a rebuilding job at Bama.

Very good point. I didnt think of that. Im honestly pretty infuriated with Saban and how classless and honorless he is. Despite what you pointed out, it still boils down to principle to me. So if Jimbo leaves Id see him in the same light as I see Saban. Thanks for what you did for LSU but now you are my most hated rival. TIGER BAIT!

Well, he really doesn't know how to handle himself.
He is following the money and nothing else. He knows that if he couldn't get Miami turned around in another 2 years and wanted to go back to college football that he couldn't get the money he is getting now. So he basically jumped ship now while he can get more than top dollar now instead of risk his future contract earnings on the Dolphins not becoming a good NFL team. That would diminish his value in college and NFL.

I knew he was going to Bama after reading his quote about how much he liked to have influence on young kids. In other words he doesn't like not having enough influence on players and dealing with the egos of the NFL.

I can't blame him for chasing NFL money to coach in college but the way he handles his affairs is pathetic. Also, why in the hell do you come back to the SEC west that you left 2 years ago. I have to admit in 2 years time I will be worried about the Bama defense. That is another reason I'm pissed.

    Re: Hey bama fans

I thought he was a very good coach, obviously the best we'd had since Arnsparger. I admired how well the Tigers played under him, and by that I mean they seemed to make fewer mental errors than in the past, made fewer stupid penalties, etc. Also, I really give him credit for getting the team prepared to play when it wasn't Saturday night. Back when I was in school in the mid/late eighties, the team was almost allways down for day games. He ran a tight ship, and you could see it on the field, and I thought that was a good thing.

However, he made some coaching decisions that I didn't agree with. Most notably, I really didn't like his inability to commit to one starting quarterback his last year here. Now I see that that wasn't so much a coaching decision as it was an uncontrollable personality trait.

He's a good coach, and he'll do ok at Bama. I don't think he'll be able to recruit there as well as he did here, too much competition from in-state and nearby out-of-state schools. But he'll do well enough to be a thorn in our side for a few years, until he bolts for some other job. He's not unbeatable. Though I will fear his defense.

But we've got one heck of a coach. I've been impressed with the Tigers' game day readiness this year, with the exception of the Florida game. The team really seems to play all out for Miles, the entire game. Other than them making a few more mental errors than they did under Saban, I don't see that big of a difference...meaning, they're well prepared for games day or night, home or road. Miles is also a good recruiter. I didn't think so two years ago, but today I think we got the better end of the deal. So thanks for the NC, Nick, and go roll with that tide around the bowl and down the hole.

I am so livid about Saban going to Bama that I joined this forum.I've never been in one before. I think he is a traitor. He just left LSU 2 years ago and how is coaching against LSU each year in the SEC West? What a piece of crap. I really respected him until now. I think Bama prostituted themselves with the money to get him and I think Saban is a liar and a traitor for taking the job. I am furious! Thanks for letting a newbie vent. :)
