Re: Saban Fallout...Here we Go I've said all along Fisher will not be here next year. No big deal if he goes to Bama ... he'll only be there a year or 2 before taking a HC job somewhere.
$aban is a MONEY guy. He chases the dollar and has no loyalty at all to anyone except his bank. He is now Tiger Bait.
This development is going to be one of those "watershed moments" LSU fans will talk about for many, many years to come. Oh, where to begin...the pure, unadulterated disgust for Saban is the obvious starting point. So much for his fond memories of his time in Baton Rouge, as that is gone, just gone. One can point to his very earliest lies...err, "comments"...such as "I left Michigan State for LSU because I didn't want to have to share the state w/ another large program" and see a pattern. He's the collegiate football version of Larry Brown, no question. Oh, and he's a quitter to boot. God bless 'em over in Tuscaloosa...you'd think they'd have enough of being burned by coaches after Coach Fran kicked 'em in the nuts, but I guess the infamy of the past 15 years or so made them desperate. Here's an interesting thought---you're gonna see Les Miles' stock in BR skyrocket now (not a bad thing at all, IMO). Now officially spurned by Saban, we'll rally around the guy with the bad trucker hat as we should after two 10-win seasons. Also, does Bama supplant Aubie as the primary target of our hate? Wouldn't surprise me if we see a "the enemy of my enemy is a friend"-type thaw happen b/w the two fan bases. Oh, and the SEC West has now officially become the most murderous in the country. Poor Ole Miss and Miss St... (PS-S Carolina and Florida, Phat Phil and Alabama and now LSU and Alabama---the SEC is a huge soap opera, eh?)
Re: Hey bama fans Did anyone ever think that Saban was that great of a coach while he was here? I still see Bama wondering what they were doing spending all that money- Mike Shula was a fine coach and that firing might go down as one of the things that helped hold off a Bama resurgence a few years dow the road.
The beautiful thing is Alabama is now, even more so, the circled game on everyone's schedule. For a couple of years now, I think we have been that circled game for our biggest opponents (UT, AU, etc.). Now, everyone is going to be absolutely gunning for Alabama. And talk about a good first schedule for Nick. At Florida State (Jacksonville is the gamesite) and at Auburn, with us, UT, UGA, and Arkansas coming to their town. Think about those gamelines. FSU - if Jimbo leaves us, he will either be at FSU or Bama. If he's at FSU, he'll work extra duty getting a gameplan together to beat Nick. If he is at Bama, FSU will see it as Jimbo choosing Bama over them and bring it hard too. AU - Muschamp will still be the coordinator at AU and will want to prove he was the brains behind the great '03 LSU defense. Plus, Tuberville will be under huge pressure to beat Saban. LSU! - Obvious reasons. UT and UGA - Both coaches have something to prove against Saban considering their losses to us in championship games. One thing is for sure - Bama will be a marked team and it will be quite interesting to be in the position of sitting back and watching it underfold.
Re: Saban Fallout...Here we Go I hope that Muschamp goes, so that Auburn will have another reason to go for six!
Re: Saban Fallout...Here we Go Saban could very well be the trigger for awakening the sleeping giant at Alabama. They have proven even with a half decent coach, ie: Gene Stallings, that you can win big at bammer. Stallings had 70 wins in 7 years with a couple SEC titles and a national title. We need to have bammer as our number 1 target. They will be better under Satan, no doubt.
I wouldnt at all mind Fisher leaving for FSU or a HC job. Im not a big fan of him. However, if he were to follow Saban, Id hate him just as much. It would be bad for LSU if he were to leave. With his knowledge of personel and tendencies. Hopefully after what happened with Bama he will stay here at LSU until he gets a HC job.
