The term 'contract' seems to have lost all meaning for the administrative side of a sports program. It really only benefits the person getting paid, since they're the only ones that are guaranteed what's in print.

Never thought that I would say this, but I hope that Tubby makes Saban his own personal bitch. No doubt who I'll be pulling for in the Iron Bowl for the next two years (when a better opportunity pops up for Nicole Saban).

I agree. I liked that Gene Stallings wanted Alabama to go after coaches that were not under any contract...obviously never going to happen. I guess their are still a few old school guys out there.

Contracts are a two way street. The coach always takes the hit in the public eye but you can bet the schools don't want big guaranteed contracts with huge buyouts. They want to be able to fire a couch without getting hit in the pocket book to hard. Do you think Bama would have fired Shula if he had 10+ million guaranteed dollars left on his contract. The admin. wants just as much wiggle out room as the coach; you can believe that. the lesson to be learned is if you are an athlete you better committ to a school not to a coach.

I am dead serious none of you have made a life changing decision in less than 24 hours. Also no one is upset about Cower saying he will take several days to make a decision. I would rather Saban take several more days, his announcing tommorrow is screwing LSU of its publicity and our players are watching this like the rest of the country.

Cowher has earned his oppertunity to step down. Saban on the other hand has never shown any honor or commitment to any job. He said he wanted to stay at LSU and turned down a HC job in the pros after winning the title. He then becomes the highest paid college coach. The next year he says Im signed and where I want to be. Sure enough the Dolphins come calling. He jumps. Then things arent going like he wanted. Bama comes calling, he should be honoring his commitment to Huezinga. I have no respect for Saban.

Point is, what good does it do Saban to keep signing these hefty contracts if he never has any intention of fufilling them? He did it to us, he did it to Miami, and he'll do it to Bama. So what's the point? To gaurantee him money and his teams increased stress-levels every other December. That's it.
