How can you say he is a traitor? He is loyal to himself, not LSU, MSU, Miami or anyone else. He has been faithfull to himself, so therefore he cannot be a traitor. :lol:

It was a DONE DEAL 2 weeks ago. Nick was on the Alabama jet with Mal Moore this morning heading for Tuscaloosa. He will sign the contract Jan. 3 as I reported 2 weeks ago.

A finalized deal from the University of Alabama is reportedly awaiting Dolphins coach Nick Saban for the Crimson Tide's head coaching vacancy.

The Mobile Press-Register reported Tuesday afternoon that Alabama has hammered out contract details and the only hold-up is learning whether Saban will accept the offer. A decision is expected later today.

Quoting a source, the Press-Register reported that Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore agreed to almost every stipulation Saban demanded, including a large budget to hire assistant coaches.

Despite having made repeated denials about interest in the job, a source said Saban met Monday night with Moore in South Florida about the vacancy created when Mike Shula was fired in late November.

Two other Alabama newspapers reported that Saban was set to get offered an eight-year contract valued at between $30 million and $32 million, which would make him the highest paid coach in college football. Saban just finished the second year of a five-year, $22.5 million contract with the Dolphins.

"That's a hard decision for him to make, for him or anybody else," Dolphins cornerback Eddie Jackson said Tuesday morning while leaving team headquarters in Davie. "We're just going to wait and see what's going to happen. It's definitely about his family and what's best for him and down the road what's going to be best for him.

"Sometimes, you've just got to understand that it's a business."

Cornerback Will Alllen said all signs point toward Saban leaving. "If he wasn't, it probably would be over already."

When asked if he thought Saban lied to the team about him considering the Alabama job, Allen said, "No. I think he was just trying not to be a distraction to the team."

Defensive end David Bowens said he would miss Saban if he were to leave. "I love the guy, and the feeling is mutual about me. We've got a lot of history. But I don't want to speculate because it's not my job to."

Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga said Monday night that he planned to meet with Saban on Tuesday morning. It's believed Saban and Huizenga have met away from team headquarters.

Good point but tell that to the Boston College fans about Tom O'Brien leaving to go to NC State. I live in NC now and the ACC is no match for SEC football but the still had an "unwritten" rule that you don't do that. This is different b/c Saban left LSU to "succeed" in the NFL but he is bailing before a full effort which should ruin his future there. How about when Bama still can't beat Auburn but goes 8-3 and makes the Independence Bowl--Bama boosters happy then?????? Saban will be set for life and will go to ESPN then. Whatever it's all about the $$$$$$$$$$ in college football anyway--damn shame but Geaux Tigers!!!!!!! I might have to come up with a ticket to the Bama game next year if Nicky is there............

We'll I'm reporting this now. Saban may be Bama's coach in 07'-08', but he won't be in 09'. Hope his recruits don't take it personally. It's just business.

if our fanbase feels somewhat scorned I suppose its understandable but this is going to be a soap opera of epic proportions if he takes over the capstone.

its almost like reading a good mystery novel and wanting to skip ahead to the end. this irks of poor taste given the luxuries WH afforded him in this deal and that loyalty to him is completely discarded. thats the part that reeks to high heaven.
