When he left LSU, I assumed it was because his goal was to be an NFL coach.. if he goes to Bama, then his goal is obviously the cash.. thats what bothers me about the deal..

You what is a beating, for 4 years we had to deal with the "Saban to _____" threads, and here we are doing it again. I am not knocking anybody because I have been right there in the middle of it here and on Tidefans, but as an LSU fan I was really hoping we where done with the Saban situation.

Guess not..

Assuming Saban takes the job, the impact on LSU will be recruiting. Unfortunately, most people consider him godlike in Louisiana, so he will certainly be able to lure some top talent out of this state. Fortunately though, given his history, he'll only be at Alabama for 2-3 years tops. Therefore, the damage will be minimal.

If I was giving him a job offer for $40 million +, I'd make damn sure that there were some very steep penalties if he choses (and based on history, he will) not to honor the contract in a year or two (ie another college job opens up).

I don't really agree with you here.
He did go to the NFL to see what he could do at the next level however
no one would ever know that a college team would offer him 50 Mill.
In this situation I put myself in Saban's shoes, I would've went to the NFL
but it is almost impossible to turn down this job offer.
Saban is ego driven so I think that may be the reason he will turn this down.
NO amount of money can repair his ego as far as the NFL or he is concerned.
Unless he goes to Bama and turns everything around, there might be another
opportunity.

What if Saban takes the job but doesn't stay for 8 to 10 years?
He didn't stay at MSU, LSU or Miami for more than 5 years.
On one hand we heard all of this before from Saban but I can't blame
him for leaving LSU to better himself or take the Bama job for the money.

Yes, for those interested I'm tired of this story and I can't wait for it to end
but on the other hand it has turned into a soap opera that is very interesting
with the amount of money they are offering him.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think a college coach would make that kind
of money.

I hope he takes it just to see what reaction our resident Saban apologist take - I am sure they will find some way to justify it and keep him on deity status at LSU. Obviously it is a great deal financially, but Saban in Bama is just wrong......he will never match up to the Bear, and we all know that is the standard there.

Wait, If he becomes the new coach at Alabama this is probably only the
beginning.
Between Recruiting, other stories and the week prior to Alabama will be
full of these kind of threads.
People will be comparing Saban at Bama to Saban at LSU!
