Doesn't the Rose pick before the Orange this year? And if so, wouldn't they want a USC-LSU match up, the biggest non-BCS NCG since USC Michigan in 2003, thus choose LSU?
Blowout not likely...I think Arky will hold close... CFN noted loss by USC... BCS GAMES Rose Bowl Pasadena, CA Rose Bowl January 1, 2007, ABC BCS vs. BCS (Big 10 vs. Pac 10 if available) Bowl Projection: LSU vs. USC Fiesta Bowl Glendale, AZ Glendale Stadium January 1, 2007, Fox BCS vs. BCS (Big 12 Champion to play here if available) Bowl Projection: Oklahoma vs. Boise State Orange Bowl Miami, FL Dolphins Stadium January 2, 2007, Fox BCS vs. BCS (ACC Champion to play here if available) Bowl Projection: Wake Forest vs. Louisville Sugar Bowl New Orleans, LA Louisiana Superdome January 3, 2007, Fox BCS vs. BCS (SEC Champion to play here if available) Bowl Projection: Notre Dame vs. Florida BCS Championship Game Glendale, AZ Glendale Stadium January 8, 2007, Fox BCS No. 1 vs. BCS No. 2 Bowl Projection: Ohio State vs. Michigan
LSU vs. USC in the Rose if Florida loses. Rose Bowl gets their dream matchup. LSU vs. Notre Dame in the Sugar if Florida wins big and surpasses Michigan. That's our only 2 options. Florida isn't going to the Rose Bowl should they lose. Zero percent chance. Quick reference guide: http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=46318
Out of curiosity, do you have inside information access? What makes you so sure that the Sugar would take LSU (wouldnt they want to sell more hotels b/c of Katrina?) and how do you know that Florida has a 0% chance at the Rose?
They'd already be selling hotels due to their opponent (especially if its Notre Lame) and who's to say they wouldn't be selling hotels to LSU fans? Besides...it's just what New Orleans/Louisiana needs...a hometown team going to a hometown bowl game as it returns to Louisiana after a major disaster.
It's a no-brainer for the Sugar to pick LSU. The first post-katrina Sugar Bowl with the hometown boys. Plus, we proved we can pack New Orleans in '01 and '03.
Yes but LSU fans do not fill up hotels for 3-4 days like an out of town team will. I still think if it came down to it, there is a chance the sugar passes on us. I think it's a very slim chance but not so slim as to dismiss it all together. Although Florida should not jump michigan so it won't matter anyway. Rose Bowl versus USC is a dream matchup. Especially because they aren't as good this year as in years past even though everyone thinks they are.
