thats not true about the #2 team gets automatic bid to cap one bowl..lsu lost to GA and was # 2 and ended up in peach bowl last year.
LSU was not #2 last year. LSU and Auburn tied for the SEC west last year (due to head-to-head tiebreaker, they went to the SEC Champ game)....and since LSU lost the champ game, Auburn ended up with a #2 in the SEC standing. (Also, if you don't include the SEC champ game, since the two were tied and LSU went the prior year, taking Auburn made logical sense).
Winner of Big 12 plays Boise State in the Fiesta (should Boise State beat Nevada). There is a zero percent chance we face Boise State in a BCS bowl game. Boise State goes to Fiesta only because the other 3 bowls pick ahead of them and will not dare select Boise (that would be akin to suicide financially). So basically its the only bowl left.
Too many damn scenarios to take place. But I am banking on USC winning out, which means LSU plays Michigan in the Rose Bowl. My entire prediction is based on USC winning out and forcing Michigan to go to the Rose and forcing the Rose to pick a non PAC 10 team (i.e., LSU over potentially WVU, Florida, Auburn).
This is not accurate information. Here's the actual selection rule. From SECsports.com..."The Capital One (2nd), will then make its pick following the BCS selections. The bowl must select the team with the next best overall record or a team that is within one win of the team with the next best overall record." There is no automatic bid for the #2 SEC team.
Not sure where psulions is getting his info. He mistakenly said that a BCS bowl must select from one of the next 2 highest ranked teams remaining in the BCS standings, which was nowhere close to being right. I know he means well, but the misinformation definitely confuses an already confusing situation (otherwise known as the BCS).
I hope he's better at predicting hurricanes than he is at assigning teams to play in bowl games. :hihi: Maybe he could have sent Katrina to the Rose Bowl and Rita to the Capital One. :hihi: Hey, he's only a teenager (or maybe 20) so I'll cut him some slack.
