Actually, you only acknowledged the Florida mistake. I just wanted to be clear about the Tennessee mistake as well.
Just to add some additional facts to this discussion, per Phil Steele. Here are all the times we've faced top 10 teams from 2001 (as far back as this year's mag shows) through last year. The line, with the + meaning we were underdogs, in parens. 2001: @ #7 Tennessee (+10) -- L, 26-18 #2 Florida (+13.5) -- L, 44-15 #2 Tennessee (+7) -- W, 31-20 #7 Illinois (-2) -- W, 47-34) 2002: #10 Alabama (+1.5) -- L, 31-0 #9 Texas (+10.5) -- L, 35-20 2003: #7 UGA (-1.5) -- W, 17-10 #5 UGA (-3) -- W, 34-13 #3 OU (+7) -- W, 21-14 2004: @ #3 UGA (+2.5) -- L, 45-16 2005: #10 Tennessee (-6.5) -- L, 30-27 @ #4 Alabama (-3) -- W, 16-13 #9 Miami (+7) -- W, 40-3
so are these ap rankings? notice never more than one on the road in a season. never more than two in the regular season this year lsu could end up with 6 games against top 10 teams
after a quick look at the media guide since 70 games against top 10 teams 70-3 71-2 72-2 73-3 75-2 77-2 79-3 81-2 82-4 (2 on the road-one postseason-went 3-1) 86-3 87-2 (didnt remember USC being #8) 88-3 91-2 92-3 93-3 94-2 95-3 96-2 98-2 99-2 never (since '70) three on the road like this year.
The more post I read the more I realize how old I am. I can remember when LSU was never tlked about in the media outside of Baton Rouge. I can remember when people would give their tickets away after LSU open the season 2-3 or 3-2 losing to unranked teams. Now we are top 15 probably will be in the top 10 by the end of the year again. Have on great program in place. Tripped ourselves up on the road in a couple of games and it is still not good enough for some. I hope our program does not go back to what it use to be but if it does, I will gladly take your tickets that you will give away because LSU sucks, go to tiger stadium and cheer for my team no matter how bad they are. I can tell by some of yalls post that you are truely fair weather fans and those kind of fans are the worst kind.
