I respectfully disagree. Not only is Bama’s offense anemic and woefully overmatched against the LSU D, but their ’06 defense pales in comparison to last year’s squad. Other than DJ Hall, I can’t think of another “playmaker” that is capable of causing Pellini to think, “Hey , we’d better watch out for THAT guy!” At the beginning of the season, I predicted that Bama was – at best – a 7-5 team and would struggle down the stretch due to schedule and depth issues. Clearly, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Bama is still reeling from the sanctions and injuries have hurt their ability to remain effective from a depth and experience perspective. Darby has been a noticeable disappointment this season, as has the defensive front. On the other hand, JPW looks solid and has a bright future at the Capstone. And Jimmy Johns is an exciting player to watch but his blocking is less than SEC caliber. Bama’s talent level is arguable……. What is not arguable is their collective level of experience and depth. The dropoff in quality is massive compared to an LSU, UT, UF, or Auburn when it comes to the depth chart. After the third quarter, LSU will be able to name their score if they wish. Doucet has finally cracked the code, and his ability to stretch the secondary will open up frequent opportunities for the other receivers, including hester out of the backfield. IMO, it’ll be LSU by 24 points
Well I hope Caddilacattack is right. But I expect Bama to lay it all out on the line and it has the makings of a trap game for us. However, Les has had the team up for all the games this year. I say we win a game that stays tight through the first half.
Bama's defense is solid, maybe not stellar, but solid. Their offense is non-existant. I see this as a battle up front, with LSU's O and D lines proving superior to Bama's. Expect conservative play calling from Miles, few yards from John Parker Bobby Micheal Scott Trevor Ian Wilson and crew and a game won in the trenches. I say Darby is held to 70 yards and no scores. LSU by 14.
I didnt mean All-American type playmakers. I was trying to explain for how bad at scoring they have been they have some decent players. If Keith Brown can play this week he will be a big boost. As I noted, I still don't expect them to be successful against our D, but they are more talented than a lot think. I dont know the exact figures but they have almost as many first downs as anyone in the SEC. They aren't as bad as they looked last weekend.
LSUranks first with 200 total first downs. Alabama ranks second with 188 total first downs. LSU ranks first in opponent first downs with 111. Alabama ranks second in opponent first downs with 139 allowed. However, this is a case where stats can be misleading, since Alabama has yet to play the two best teams on it's schedule.
It has always been trendy to hate Alabama lately, so I'll let my boys speak for the other side on the field. Nothingfaced is crimson, 6-4, 10-0, or 0-10. Roll Tide Roll! Don't count out the Crimson Tide just yet. They will turn around and make one last stand this season if I know anything about them. This Saturday's game is more than just for Shula. It is for everything Alabama stands for.
I think you guys need to lose one more before making this last valiant stand. Here's a suggestion. You get smashed this weekend, then take all that frustration, and beat the phuck out of AU.:thumb:
I think the boys know they have to win out. So I expect LSU to "roll" all over Shula's bunch. I predict another 35 to 45 point blowout. Bama really sucks and Shula's gone after this year.
