1.) That same Oregon St. team took the USC team that won the NC that year down to the wire. They played up and down to their opponents. They had some pretty bad losses, but they were still a good team in my estimation 2.) Same as above, except USC only made it to the title game and didn't win the NC 3.) Iowa would have blown us out if it hadn't been for JR 4.) Bama had a terrible offense, but their D was not overrated at all. It, in my opinion, was the best D we faced all year. 5.) Auburn was important because JR didn't commit any turnovers, played very well and had two touchdown passes dropped in the endzone. One by Bowe and One by Doucet. And I didn't mention wins any where in my inital post, I said PERFORMANCES, which is an important distinction because I am all to aware of the loss to Iowa. But the performances in these games, the leadership shown by JR is what I am commending because no one else seems to do so.
You don't have to convience me of JR's abilities. I've been a supporter of JR since he's been named our starter. I simply worded my original message the way I did for the benefit of those that claim JR is anything less than a quality starting QB. For the season, JR is: 159 of 229 for 2157 yards 69.4 completion % with 18 TD's and 7 INT's for a Nationally ranked passing rating of 168.38. He's on pace to pass for 24 TD's to only 9 INT's. Plus, dispite the fact that people claim JR is "slow" and that he "can't run", etc., he's only been sacked 8 times through 9 games (and the O-line deserves some credit for that).
1.) He didn't play the whole game, you can't have a statement game if you don't play the whole thing. (could've been if he were the starter though) 2.) Az. St. as I stated in another thread, special teams won this one. 3.) see # 1 4.) This was just a defensive slobberknocker. Tough to call this one a statemnet game when the statement were made by 2 great Defenses. 5.) Both teams tried continuously to lose this game. Too many mistakes by either team for it to be anyones statement game. Tenn game yesterday: conference game (check) National TV (check) on the road (check) unsuccessful in previous road games (check) Top Ten opponent (check) largest crowd he's ever played in front of (check) good defense (check) opponent still in running for SEC CG (check) lots of pressure to put past losses behind you (check) gut check moment (check) costly mistake early that helps create drama at the end (check) rising above expectations, control;ling the clock,, making game winning play with too little time for youropponent to comeback (check) There were just too many circumstances around this game to NOT call it a statement game. He had more to prove in this game than any other he has started to this point. That's why this is his signature win.
Only thing i see wrong with your great post!!! Good points though. On my way back to S.C. from the game i got a big thumbs up from some Gator Fans on their way back to FL on I75 right outside of ATL. They were happy we beat TN!!
Unlike 99, I see that you ARE a believer in SUPERMAN. PS I am hoping to have an even BETTER pic of that here soon...
And with our luck with refs and replays, they'd have spotted it at the one and we have to use our last time out with 10 secs left to stop the clock. :dis:
They did have the #1 D in the country. They have or had 3 players starting from that defense starting for NFL teams this year.
