I know I am. On the local news the other night, the sportscaster was saying that tigers' fans need to remember that Saban lost 3 games in his second season. That's idiotic to say that. I mean, Saban didn't have the talent that Miles has right now. Saban had a good offense that year with Davey and Reed and co., but the defense was nowhere near as good as the one we have now. I think the biggest difference between Miles and Saban is that Saban got the most out of his talent and his teams were ready to play every week, big game or not. And Miles hasn't shown that yet. With Miles, we beat the living crap out of teams we are supposed to, which is good, but we struggle with the Big Games. The boys play like a bunch of high school kids in big games. They drop balls, fumble, throw careless INTs, miss punts, and make stupid penalties. And it's every big game, not just one or two. I think when/if Miles corrects this, the Saban comparisons will cease. Miles has proven he's a good recruiter, so he should have the talent to win, he needs to "just win baby".
obviously missed the point. Im just pointing out what i think the reasons are for the comparisons and what i think miles needs to do for them to stop. In any of my posts I never say " well, Saban would've done this or that".
Anyone who follows in the footsteps of a great coach who won a few Conference Championships and a National Title will always be compared to his predecessor. It comes with the territory.
Im tired of all the comparisons, we can get back to them when his career at LSU is over. I Promise!!!
Okay, so you're tired of yourself? Here, you can get tired of me, as well: How many games did Saban lose with "Nick Saban" talent his last year? Hmmmm... He lost a very close, hardfought game at Auburn. Some even contended that we got screwed by the refs. Then, two weeks later, great coach Nick Saban's team was HORRIBLE against top 5 ranked Georgia and got their butts kicked. Saban's team was "ready to play" that week??? How "ready to play" were they against UAB???!! How many times did CNS have his team so ready to play that they won every home game in a given season? I'll answer those questions for you: No, not at all and never! Wow, CNS must have been human, too! Miles won 11 games his first season and this year has only lost two really close games against top 5 ranked teams on the road! Seems like he has gotten his team ready to play! So, to answer your question, no, I'm not tired of the Miles/Saban comparisons! But, I am quite tired of hearing Tiger fans talk about how great Saban was and how bad Miles is. It the proof is in the pudding, then all of those naysayers need to taste a little Saban pudding and then try the Miles pudding. And then, just shut up and give the guy a chance! Frankly, I like the guy and I hope he has tremendous success, of course. If he starts losing a bunch of games and losing to teams that the Tigers "should" beat, then I'll be glad to make the Saban comparisons as a case for why he isn't working out as our coach. But, I really can't complain at this point. There seems to be a lot of harmony on the team, and the players appear to be fine upstanding young men. That, too, is important. Peace, out. :geauxtige
